I could see that amount of gold being legitimate if it were an account that pooled assets from multiple staff members, but then it's still rather unusual that the purchase would be made. Very odd motives.

Posting this again.

I get what everybody means, yet I cannot ignore the shadiness of it all. My concern is,if Menstrual's speculations are true, this means the Gaia staff are power-tripping even on the marketplace just so users buy more GCash. Because they can't sell GGs anymore they're looking for another means to rack in GC buyers?
I won't claim to be mp-savvy,but I'm pretty sure most of my newly bought wishlist items deflated after they announced that the GGs would be removed from CS. Then a few days ago the prices were going back up again. I didn't care that my account was depreciating in value. I was just really glad I'd be able to afford more. But if they DO manipulate supply/demand/prices of listed items thus causing havoc on the economy once more,I'd be really concerned.
Not that I'm an important Gaian/customer,I don't even spend gcash,I currently have 97gc from offers and vids emotion_facepalm

I have actively bought G-Cash since it was introduced to the site. I've been here since 2014. I have avidly stayed out of threads about Gaia/Gaia's choices but this one crosses the line from morally unjust to corrupt. I cannot and will not support a site that generates gold out of thin air for situations like this. Sure the gold is legit because an admin is generating it. This is the ONLY possible way that gold was made.

This is a disgusting way to manipulate the market. No wonder Sagger said "******** it" and left. Even a paid economist can't deal with the shady s**t going on.

I can definitely say it is a slap to the face to every Gaian who's still on this site, and to every other Gaian who's left because of their sorry-not-sorry attitude towards users. I scanned through LS's post history, and because most if not all her posts are in GSD and in CS updates, who wouldn't suspect a mod mule? No Exchange topics posted (correct me if I'm wrong) and yet she has 133T to spare for a Double Rainbow Ticket and other juicy pricey listings AND not to mention actively participates and contributes to all those gold sinks? lol

Toothsome Lunatic

This... greatly depresses me. When I left a few years back, I could swear up and down that Gaia staff would NEVER do anything like this. Now I come back to find that there is underhanded corruption left and right, and nothing matters except the cash shop and perpetuating inflation.
I recently restocked my cash supply just because thats what I had always done before GGs, but now I don't know if I want to keep at it. sad

They dumped more gold in the community than just that 133 trillion.
For example, they bought out atleast 2 Shooting Star Debut items on the day of it's release for 1 trillion +, so there's no telling what else they bought.

Proof here, they bought my 1st Shooting Star Debut for 1 trillion and I believe another user who had one listed around 1.5 trillion, forgot the user's name :

Yes, I included that in the TL;DR recap. Thank you for including it in the last thread.
1 trill is insanity. That item is indeed very cute.. but worth 1 trillion on opening day AND within hours of being released? I don't think so.

An obvious ploy to manipulate the ABP (against their own rules! emotion_awesome ) to make the item more unreachable/desirable and increase sales.

sad This is incredibly disheartening. I am a whale & tend to understand the angle gaia comes from in terms of business. But this is just plain wrong.

Anyone who disagrees please check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing sad

I'm so sad about this.

I don't see the big deal here other than it being a staff account buying a highly expensive item on their safe account. Like I said the other day, you can't really think that a single action would actually affect the whole community's behavior/activity on MP. The MP's graph even show it. The ticket in question made nothing more than a spark on said day, and by the very next day, things has gone back to normal.

Nobody will know the true intent of said actions, since it is nothing more than mere speculation on our parts.

Because the 130 trillion is being held by one person.
Can you imagine the outcry if Gaia hosted a raffle where 130 users could win 1 trillion gold each ?

this

if people think what's here constitutes irrefutable proof of intent and gold generating, they need some Sam Waterston in their life. and even if the claims are true, it just doesn't matter. it's a game. people are acting like they uncovered the Iran-Contra affair lol

User Image

It's never just a game like people try to make it out to be.
If it was just a game, people would have left years ago. Games die, Gaia hasn't.
This site is actually important to some and for people to be like "Oh well, it doesn't matter" is complete bs. It's just like when people don't vote in the elections.

IF it TRULY didn't matter to you, you wouldn't even acknowledge the thread to begin with.
To acknowledge something means that you actively have an interest in it.

isn't is somewhat even a little tiny bit possible that a professional artist made a butt-ton of gold on Gaia making art?

They have devalued the gold of every single person on this site. They may as well have literally reached into our pockets.
As gold becomes more worthless, GC gains value and sales of it increase. The gap between GC and non-GC users rises and most of us have to work twice as hard to get anything we want.
The whole thing is beyond disgusting, not to mention the removal of a ticket which could have brought eveyone a fantastic new recolour.

I know. gonk I already have to sacrifice my items just to get one new one. Do they want us to bleed from our ears til we finally decide to spend money on pixels????
I agree. That ticket was so full of possibilities. emotion_donotwant

This is the MAIN reason I shouldn't be banned. I'm calling Gaia out for manipulating the MP which is supposed to be something they would never, EVER do and they are doing.

Then again they weren't supposed to EVER sell MC items and they did.
They weren't supposed to re-release LQI items.. and they have.. and they just re-wrote the meaning behind the LQIs too.
They weren't supposed to put limited items in Flynn's plunder but they have. They loop holed around that one as well..

I feel like I'm dealing with an actual government now.

It would be no different from Gaia's 1bil gold prizes in gold gens. So, in a sense, yes, I can definitely imagine that.

Do you understand how much 133+ trillion is? Who on Gaian period has 60 halos? Actually, according to the other thread it was 300 trillion. Anyone who legitimately had that much wouldn't have extremely overpaid on the MP.

except not? it takes zero time/effort/cost for me to make a post on gaia. having interest in something and/or acknowledging it doesn't mean that it doesn't matter.

and gaia is just a game. perhaps not the forums as those contain human interaction but the other aspects of the site (especially the marketplace) are a game. if people are using the marketplace as anything other than a game, then that's their issue and I would personally recommend taking a break from the site.

gaia isn't at all equatable to real life situations like elections. it's a game/forum site existing in a virtual space. although many aspects of the economy function in a similar way to the real world, it's not really the same at the end of the day.
