BTW, Funny sex change xD I actually just finally changed my avi to male before creating this thread. I didn't want to spend money on hair cut.
I've changed my avatar's gender so many times I think it would cost me 60k to go female, lol.
On the telling someone I'm a boy thing, I would NEVER date someone who didn't already know that I'm trans. Being transgender is such a big part of my life right now. They would need to know.

Lupin - I don't like labels because it give more power to put downs ... I was raised by two moms and one of them is my biological mother and the other is my biological father ... I never liked names or labels for ppl to use to their advantage. It's like magic .... a lot of power is in a name so why not be a conundrum? if your happy with who you are then why do you need to explain what you are.

The way I see it, some people don't understand who you are. I'm all about spreading awareness and knowledge into the community. If you a have a label, more people look into it, and more people learn. Just as well, using a label can help you find similar interests. Just like the tags to threads. I see label's as more of guidelines then definitions set in stone. IE, I call myself an Agnostic with ideals closest to Wiccan and Buddhism. That doesn't mean I'm Wiccan, doesn't mean I'm Buddhist, but it helps others understand me better.

Unfortunately, humans thrive off labels. If you haven't noticed, I've been tripping over myself desperately searching for some word to describe myself since I joined this thread. Not because I have issues with myself or anything like that, but because labels help other people to understand. If I could just say "I'm Jellicle" and people knew exactly what I meant... well, that would make my life so much simpler.

However, the question I get asked the most when I'm abusing my androgynous features is "Are you a dyke?" To which the answer is a middle finger pointed straight up in the air. If I actually wanted to explain myself to someone, completely... well, I think that would take a while. if only because I'd need to grasp for words to describe myself. If I could tell someone I'm Jellisexual and I identify as a Jellicle. That would be crazy awesome.

... perhaps I'll start doing that anyways.

Lol Ya. I don't see people not knowing I'm Trans either. xD Was just a 'just in case' question.
I believe because the way our brains work, labels are necessary. If it weren't for labels, we would have to describe everything about ourselves in great detail in order to communicate smaller ideas. I can say, "I'm agnostic" or I can say, "I don't believe that it is possible to know whether or not there is a God, because we have limited knowledge." I could say, "I'm pansexual" or "I could date anyone, regardless of their sex or gender." I could say, "I'm trans" or "I feel like I should have been born a boy."

when put like that I really have to agree ... I'm a gay rights atavist so having a "label" is important but I guess it really boils down to the word "label" and what it's put me through my whole life. I was always quite blunt about my sexual orientation pretty much for as long as I can remember and labels made me feel isolated so when developing a term to be known or understood better by I much prefer the word "title" ... feels somewhat prestigious wouldn't you say?

Have a good night everyone, it's getting late here. Been wonderful talking with all of you.
Speaking of sexuality... I said I wasn't really sure to that one.

Right now I sort of identify as 'ideologically pansexual,' because intellectualy I don't really care about whether the person I'm attracted to is male, female or inbetween. And sometimes I identify as asexual because I like to look but I'm not all that interested in 'touching' or being touched.

But generally speaking, a pretty girl will catch my eye before a cute guy, and hold it a bit longer.

And sometimes (at least among MtF ts's, I don't know if it happens with other tg types,) there's what appears to be an 'orientation shift' during transition. Like, you start out liking girls and thinking you'll be a lesbian after transition but during the process that fades and you wind up liking boys instead.

I've seen some theories on why that can happen. They're not really important, tbh, except how some of them influence why I'm asking this.

Cause it's something I'm a little nervous about happening to me... I fit a lot of the criteria for some of the ideas on why it can happen, and I'm a bit scared of where I am changing.
But there's also a part of me that's kind of hoping it does happen. And the whole mess is a bit confusing.

And I'm not really sure what I'm hoping for in posting this, other than it's late and I'm rambly and kind of wanted to let it out.

Before T, I was convinced I would only like guys. Now I'm open to just about anybody... although right now I'm going through a "I'm fascinated with boys" phase.

Labels can be useful, but they can also be limiting or carry some extra baggage that doesn't necessarily apply and might give the wrong idea if someone thought they did.

So when I use them, I tend to qualify them. Er... kinda like you did with the "Agnostic etc." bit.

Oh, as for me: I'm a Chaote with elements of Discordianism and Christian Heresy. That usually makes people go WTF? which suits the Discordian sensibilities just fine xd
