I was told today that I was "bitching" about the Avatar movie when I said I didn't want to see it. My friend, a Hispanic woman (thus a fellow minority), was telling me that it doesn't matter that the actors cast in the lead roles are either white or do not fit the racial background of their intended characters (Zuko, for example, is not dark. The Fire Nation was not created in the image of Indians...) and that it would have been just as racist to cast Asian actors because the lead characters in the animated series are voiced by white people.

I laughed. A lot.

Nope, but they are main characters (well, Zuko. Iroh kind of teeters from what I can tell), so it still contradicts her defense XD
