Not in the middle of class? Do you go to school? Do you know how much free time there is? Yeah, not that much. You can basically in class, but when its learned your reading a Bible, uh-oh...

Support this.

You can read what you please so long as you do not distract any other students/faculty with your readings. The same principle as prayer really.

Now it is illegal (outside a religious/biblical studies class) for any religious text to be read by the teacher in a class/lecture where it has no relevance (assuming this to be a public school of course) as that fails the Lemon test...

Several schools may discourage the reading of religious texts within their grounds, but saying it is illegal is purest fancy.

Not if you're receiving government money to do so that is. It is perfectly legal for the everyday citizen read what they desire in a public setting.
I would say that its historical involvement with law far outweighs that it is valued by many religions in itself.

What historical involvement?

No, seriously. 7 of the ten are absent, 4 are prohibited by the establishment clause, and the three present in our legal code are not unique to the ten commandments.

The ten have absolutely no historical significance relating to the laws of this country, and to argue that they do shows a fundamental ignorance of US law.

Actually: Yeah, it really is. Your spelling is just a part of the problem, your grammar and syntax are simply atrocious.

Absolute bullshit.

Prove that morals must come from religion, and explain why lists of (mostly irrelevant) moral laws should be displayed especially given their clear violation of the establishment clause please.

Not until you prove it. Until you back your claims they are little more than the near-illiterate ramblings of a disaffected teen.

Yes, yes it is your fault. How on earth is it NOT your fault you can't spell? Or, for that mater, form a coherent sentence?

Last I checked communism was an economic system, and one that is a lot closer in line with Christ's teachings than pure capitalism is. Interesting, then, that Christ would have endorsed a failed economic system.

Anyhow, you can derive morals quite simply. Morals can be based off of reason. I've actually written quite a lot on the notion of evolutionary development of morals. You'll notice that animals rarely actively look for fights with other creatures. They certainly have no real morals, so...why do they not just go out killing? Answer: that takes energy, energy better spent reproducing or finding easier food. Why do some animals mate for life? It ain't 'cos the Bible says so. Give me a virtue, and I'll find it in nature, suggesting that there's a survivability value to it.
Do you suppose the OP realizes that he looks like a complete idiot when he can't spell, use grammar, or support his statements? Or do you think he believes that he's actually making an intelligent argument?

Honestly, I think the pendulum has been cut in two with both halves going as far to their respected sides as they can.

We have to have the 10 Commandments in every courthouse, but it is virtually illegal to read your Bible at school. You can happily say, 'In God We Trust' every day, but if you fly up a banner saying the same thing, your doing something or other to religious minorities.

Then again, what else could you expect when we asked the government to help us with our religious freedoms and choices?

It is not illegal to read the Bible at school.

Just dont do it in the middle of class.

And where are you flying this banner? In your own yard? That's perfectly legal too.

Nope, we're still talking about public places, and no you can't.

Public places are just that: owned by the public. The collective masses. They're represented by the government, which is supposed to remain secular. The government runs public places. You do the math.

I indeed went to school, and I knew quite a lot of religious people. I often saw them reading their Bibles at lunch or in the mornings before class. Whether it was for pleasure or just to "stick it to the man," I don't know, but no one ever got them in trouble.

They were even allowed to advertise "Meet You at the Pole" or whatever you call it, where they would meet before school started in the morning and pray around the flag in front of the school.

And yeah, I guess you would get in trouble for reading the Bible in the middle of class. Or anything else not pertaining to that specific course.

How would it CRUMBLE without the 10 commandments?

I don't believe they should. Display it on your OWN property.

The US was founded on freedom not religion of any sort.

Furthermore, most of our founders were deist.
You know, I've heard that alot.

Mind throwing some proof this way?

people of all religions live in America- no religion should control our government
well should and do are two different things. sadly enough our government is nearly expressly controlled by religious factions.

a religion does not form the back bone it is a form of control. and morals are mostly already removed from this country, the majority of people only care for themselves, and both the law makers and law enforcers for the most part are corrupted to the core. The number of church going citizens is dwindling, and nothing is truth without proof. so even with all that i still don't see a communist government... we seem pretty capitalist to me.
The 10 commandments are pretty much useless, the first four are only relevant to Christians and the last 6 are so obvious even other primates follow them.

There are biological reasons for us being nice to our parents and people have been generally not tolerant of murder, theft, lying and sexual unfaithfulness since our brains evolved enough to know what they were. So I really don't think people need them written out on a court house to remind them of what they have known for thousands, if not millions, of years.

They are also only the beliefs of one religion, so I really don't think they should be placed in the court house of a muli-religious country.
Dear lord, learn to spell.
