Nethilia
This should be amusing in the same way my dental surgery was.

Oh, you're a funny one.

Nethilia

Okay, let's say, for three hot heavy sweaty seconds, that someone is abusing abortion. That they get knocked up and skip off to the abortion clinic time and time again, choosing to have an invasive surgery time and time again, risking uterine damage and blowing at least 300 bucks a hit when that same amount can give you a year's worth of semi-reliable birth control. And these are the kind of people who you want breeding? s**t, do you want people who chain dogs up in the backyard in the winter to freeze adopting dogs left and right too?

Damn straight, I hate puppies. I like to kick them.

Nethilia

This whole analogy thinkg is going right over your head, ain't it?

Ain't that a crying shame. Maybe you should use analogies tha do something to clarify your point instead of being dramatic and worthless.

Nethilia

Quote:

Yeah, and that happened a lot, people being forced out of school and locked up because THEY ******** up... Jeez. Good thing you quoted some accurate statistics about that!

You mean like you did, miss "most people getting abortions are horny teens using cheap condoms by Trojan"?

Way to shirk the issue. (You even provided sources to completely irrevelent articles to make it look like you addressed it. Well played.)

Are you just reaming through my posts pulling out random quotations? I said "I don't think most teenage pregnancies are caused by Trojan making their condoms too thin." (Or something to that effect.)
You claim to possess all these superlative analytic skills but you don't pick up on the metonymy used when I refer to Trojan instead of the condom industry.

Ah well.

Nethilia

[... Useless excerpts ...]

... Are those quotes supposed to mean something beyond "Look! Teens have been getting pregnant for years?"

Nethilia
Yeah, that's right. I'm married. So, what's the problem with me ******** my husband here?

Does anyone care?

Nethilia

Oh, that right, I don't need sex. It onhly strenghtens the bond between my husband and I, keeps me from going batshit insane and slicing my wrists up left and right, calms me down, is a religious gesture to my goddess, and shows my husband I love and desire him sexually.

You can sex it up all you like in front of your divine beings. You really can't stand addressing this issue generally, can you? Always and everywhere the topic needs to derail to talk about you personally. Can you grasp that you are not representative of all women everywhere? Or does that hurt your narcism?

Nethilia

But No, my husband and I should just sit around and do crosswords or some s**t because ******** over in Internet land doesn't think I'm smart enough to know how to stop getting pregnant. There must be a switch on my a** that allows me to stop conception.

While I agree you're a dumbshit, you can sex it up all you like. If we're lucky, the numerous abortions you'll hopefully be subject to will deprive you of the funds to pay for an internet connection and we'll all be saved your annoying, elitist diatribe.

Nethilia

You seem to think that people who aren't doing what YOU would do are idiots.

1. What would I do?
2. Where the ******** do you draw that conclusion from?

Nethilia
Contrary to what you've concluded, the world and the demarcation line of "stupid" is not drawn by you. If you're going to complain about people being stupid, make sure you're not standing on the wrong side here.

My mistake, I forgot that you were the one who gets to draw the line, being so old and wizened (err, wise) as you are.

Nethilia
Pro-choicers? Want there to be choice in how to deal with pregnancy. Anti-choicers? Want to manipulate people into staying pregnant against their will. I can see which side is more malicious here.

While we're portraying partisan viewpoints:
Anti-choicers: want to protect that sanctity of human life.
Pro-choicers: want to kill other human beings because someone was horny.

Nethilia
Then maybe, if you don't like people huffing about your snotty little implications that you didn't "say" (and I'm reading this as I didn't say this word for word, so I didn't sayi t" wink , you shouldn't be making them backhanded and then whining when we drag your nasty little statements into the light to expose them for the uppity s**t that they are.

Holy s**t, woman. You simply cannot understand that you are WRONG and I am not deliberately hiding alterior messages in my posts. It might be hard for you to understand the concept of honesty and verity, but it does exist.

Nethilia
Quote:
No, it means that if you play your cards right, nothing bad should happen (except in a few exceptional cases.) If you treat sex stupidly and ******** yourself over, you lose.

And what I'm reading from that is that if you get pregnant, and you do it in a way I, CalicoDream, do not approve of, I have every right to call you stupid and demean you for abusing abortion, and then whine when someone calls me on my hate.

For once you got something right. I'm shocked.
Yes, if a person does something to hurt themselves that they could've prevented (or even TRIED to prevent) I reserve the right to call said person and idiot. I won't waste my time demeaning them (that should take care of itself) but I can mock and jeer at them all I like. Tears of sadness for them.

And don't give me this s**t about "ooh! All people who need abortions are victims!" There a loads of people who just can't take the ******** time to toss on a condom or think to take the morning after pill (or potentially even check if the wild sex they had the night last got them knocked up.)

Wonder where I could find people who are so desirous for sex that they'd forget something as simple as a condom. Or someone who wanted to be closer to their mate; without the artificiality of a condom between them. I'm sure there are no people like that, right?

Nethilia
What, and make this post any longer? You have Shakespeare; go and read it. Just like I did.

... Can you read? I said I wanted to read YOUR PAPERS on Shakespeare. Not Shakespeare's works.

Nethilia
Becuase NO ONE can make any dissetations without needing a Cliff's notes and a helping hand. Because no one is a smart or as pretty as you, right? Next time you want to condescend to someone about English, make sure they're not a former English major who did the s**t for five years in college, kay?

... How the hell do you relate your writing about Shakespeare to the "noone's smarter than CalicoDream!!" line?
Anyway, I was just pointing out that I doubt YOU wrote your papers without help from Cliff's notes, etc.

As for why you're a "former" english major and not merely an english major...

Nethilia

And yet, you've bobbed and weaved more than a drunk boxer and then complained that no one read you right when we all come to the same conclusion. We can't all be reading you wrong, nookies.

Breathtaking simile. You win! (That's what you've been wanting to hear all along, isn't it?)
I'm not really sure how I've been bobbing and weaving about like a drunk boxer, but I'm sure that I have been since the statement is made by a former english major.

Nethilia
You don't have to hate yourself to be a misogynist. You just have to hate other women. And no, possesion of a v****a and tits doesn't absolve you from misogyny any more than black skin saves me from prejudiceial thoughs. And, by saying that women who get pregnant outside of your "logical" beliefs are stupid, you've planted yourself a** first in Misogyny City.

... Do you know what misogyny IS? "Hatred of women."
Not hatred of OTHER women. Not hatred of STUPID women. Hatred of all women as a species, on principle.

Nethilia
BY SAYING THAT PEOPLE YOU KNOW ARE "SMARTER" THAN TO GET PREGNANT WHEN THEY WANT TO BE, YOU ARE SAYING THAT THOSE WHO GET PREGNANT WHEN THEY DON'T WANT TO BE ARE STUPID.

Maybe the bold and caps will beat this into your head.

Let's give your tactics a try:
BY SASYING THAT PEOPLE I KNOW ARE "SMARTER" THAN TO BECOME PREGNANT WHEN THEY DONT WANT TO BE, I SUGGEST THAT THERE EXIST SOME WOMEN, SOMEWHERE THAT ARE STUPID.

Not "all other women" are stupid. Not "females as a race are idiotic" (though I tend to think that.) Not "Nethilia is a dumbass." (Though that has been covered elsewhere, now.) But merely that some women, because they are stupid, get pregnant.

Was that so hard?

Nethilia
You know no better than people who ******** up. You just think you do, and think this gives you justification to be an elistist b***h.

... Right, and you get to be an elitist b***h because you're a married, (supposedly) graduated black woman, right?

Way to bow out of the argument, though ^.^

all this talk about rights, what about the fetus' rights? or do they not have them because YOU don't see them as a person?

So, who here has had an abortion? And could you honestly 100% say that if you got pregnant you would have an abortion? How about not bashing me and talk about the stuff that hasn't been talked about.

Ah, good to see the great abortion thread still live and kicking and full of silliness as always. Keep fighting the good fight 'choicers. 3nodding

You! =O

*clings to* heart

*ahem* I swear I am on topic. ninja Kinda.

If we were to try to change the adoption system for the better, what kind of changes should be implemented?

^_^ *counter clings and hops on topic* heart

I think the first thing is to acknowledge and educate the general public about the biases and the importance of race equality in the adoption system. You have to admit to a problem before you can fix it. I think the root of it is also the prejudice we still have in our everyday lives, so that must be addressed and we actually need to strive for equality. I'm not sure what else I would do, I never really thought about it in depth. I wonder how Neth would change it. I'd like to hear what she thinks sometime. Maybe I should ask her on her lj. ninja

why does a fetus deserve more rights than a born person?
a fetus is not recognized under the law as a person, not just by us; and if it were, it would have more rights than born people. (i.e. person b can not force person a into using any part of person a's body for person b's survival, regardless if person b will die without person a's body).

i wouldn't abort unless i was in absolute danger. but i'm still pro-choice.

Does it have a legal name? Does it have a birth certificate? Does it have citizenship?
The answer to all of these questions is no, so my next question of is it a person is also answered with a negative.

I can honestly say !00% that if I got pregnant I would have an abortion. Of course thats beside the point since I can't get pregnant, and I wouldn't force anyone to have an abortion any more that I would force them to have a child.

Maybe in a way I do see them as a person, even when i do see them as a person I still find abortion to be perfectly fine. In fact seeng them as a person is one of my main arguments.

I hope i dont need an abortion anytime soon, but in situations, hell yes I'd have one.

I believe, about 2-3 people here have had abortions.

Fetal rights? As of this moment, unwanted fetuses do not have rights above that a mother allows them. If a fetus were to have the exact same rights as any other human being, it would not have the right to use another human's body, even at the cost of its own life, as demonstrated by the McFall vs Shimp case. To allow it to do so is to give fetuses superior rights to that of a human being.

And if a fetus does not have rights equivalent to that of a human being, but lower, then it doesn't matter, because we obviously have the right to own pets, kill cows, kill celery, and euthanize dogs.

Also, I'm pretty sure that if I ever got pregnant, I'd abort.

I swear I'm off for dinner. ninja

I don't see how an unfeeling, unsentient being can trump the rights of one who is sentient and can make decisions.

No one has a right to make me give blood or a kidney or any other bodily organ that is contained within my body. Why is this any different? A fetus is alive, sure, but so are my organs. Why can you not force me to give up my bodily integrity for the sake of that, yet you feel you can force me to give up my bodily integrity for a similar, alive yet unsentient tissue?

Yes, I can honestly say 100% that I would have an abortion. I don't believe in the adoption system either, though I'm a white female. No need to add to the strife there. If I ever decide I want kids, I'll adopt.

Every child should be a wanted child, not punishment, not forced into life because their host had no other choice.

They odn't have them, because, well, they don't have them. Not in America, at least. Law, really. And, the constitution.

I've had an ex-girlfriend who had an emergency abortion. I myself cannot exactly get an abortion since I distinctly lack a uterus.

And, if my current girlfriend got pregnant, I'd fully support her if she wanted an abortion. I'd be there with her the whole time.
