im more right then you are unless you have found your missing link
We've found a few dozen missing links between that ape ancestor thing and modern man- which one is still missing?

most scientists are becoming creationists because of more evidence and creationism takes less to believe in then some theory that says a pea exploded and tada! there a whole universe
You've already been told that those things are strawmen. You're right about a pea exploding and resulting in the entire universe being dumb but luckily that's nothing at all like the big bang.

Personally, I'm a strong supporter of Evolutionary theory, but the question has to be asked, where'd it all come from in the first place?
Like, with the Big Bang Theory, where'd the bang come from *scientist says: It's perpetual!* as a philosopher, I've gotta ask, and I don't care whether it's God or whatever else, but where did the first bang come from?
I've got a theory where there was something of a higher being up there who started it all, but since then, it's done nothing... but my view shouldn't be taught in school, I don't think.
I think that Darwinism is for the win. Religion should be kept out of schools because it taints the ideas of the people involved in it towards the values held by that religion.
Most people don't say it's perpetual anymore- there's some strong evidence against that I'm not going to bother explaining because nobody ever seems to care or maybe even just understand.
But either way we're pretty much going to get expanding until things are so far apart that you'd never know there was anything here at all- and then keep expanding.
As for where it came from- well, string theory might be another step back in time past what we've ever been able to check out but right now for the most part we've got some ideas but not a lot of evidence.

Don't think anyone saw the edit....
Was it taught to you as fact or were you just not paying attention/unable to pick out that they were teaching how things work in science?
I was able to tell that it was a theory but also the best explanation for things we've seen happen in reality.

If Chirstianity or any other realigon cant be tuaght then why should evaloution be tuaght
Because evolution is scientific fact, and has nothing to do with religion. Just because it conflicts with the judeo-christian view of how we came to be doesn't mean that we need to provide them with the ability to put their 2 cents in during science class. It's not correct, it's not constitutional, and it won't happen.
I'm sorry, but I just have to put in here, that I agree- Evolution is simply a theory. And a religion as well. I mean honestly, it's basically humanisim, hiding behind a thin mask of science, and a lot of out-dated drawings and scams. To put the icing on the cake, nobody here is willing to budge, so this is a muted point... Huh, a waste of time.
By the way, Christians aren't the only ones who believe in Creation, so, I wouldn't be pinning it to their books and all their hooplah.
Have you ever studied anything about evolution, or, like hopper, do you simply parrot what others have said? I will say you spell better, though.
I've gone through public school for over half my life, thank you- Evolution just never made sense to me. I suppose there is a way to say that I believe in evolution, but not Evolution. I think things can change, but not like an elephant to a flamingo. No, most of this "research" has been done on my own time, though I have been preached at for maybe a 1/6th of my life.

Good thing nobody else thinks elephants came from flamingos either.
How about this- at what point couldn't one of these have come from the next in this list?
flamingo
stork
goose
duck
chicken
Zarek_tlek: That's a pretty decent way to look at things. You should persuade local preachers and the like to adopt it as their own and then maybe after awhile people will be able to stop fighting about it.
Oh well, I doubt that will actually happen.

Lies. BLATANT lies.
As of yet, no evidence or data has been found of Christian (or any other) creation theory, or EVEN the big bang.
What do you call red shifts and the CMBR?

1/1000000000000 thats the chance of having a planet that can substain life
i think theres a God somewhere
A: How did you get that number
B: Does that mean that there is life on one planet in every handful of galaxies? That we just have to check through like four or five galaxies and we should find some aliens with little buildings all over their landscape and trading things between each other while they argue with each other about what their young should be taught?
Well, for your information current understanding suggests that there are quite a number of habitable planets in our galaxy. We haven't found them yet but that's because we have a hard time detecting anything smaller than Jupiter- but give it some time.
hopper_G
things that decreace the cance of life
planets distance to sun
if earth was 5% closer or 20% farther, no life
Planets distance to center of galaxy
more stars=more uv, radio, x rays, plasma storms
size of moon
the moon keeps earth steady
#of moons
more moons=less gravitatioal balance
oxegen and nitrogen atmosphese
alows light to hit earth
water
pretty obvious
ozone
blocks uv
etc.
etc.
etc.
I don't disagree that those things have a large impact on life- large enough that without them what's on Earth wouldn't be remotely the same- but you don't know which of those things are really needed at all. Could be life can exist and evolve into something fairly quick without any of them- hell, it might even result in civilization ten times faster without some of them.

i'm sure someone has said this, but since there is so much evidence proving aspects of evolution, it should definitely be taught
3nodding Yeah. there's been a few people that have mentioned that....

Really? Cause I've TOTALLY missed it.

I just love it when people join just to get gold, not even bothering to read what's been said already.
I don't expect people to read every page but reading the opening post and at least five of the latest posts wouldn't kill them...
probably.
