Pride the Ever-Living

If she looked closely, it almost seemed like the little rabbit was nodding or shaking its head. It was very cute to watch, but not very reassuring. As he nosed his way through the bandages on her thigh, Lani's face flushed as she tried to hide the small rabbit from prying eyes. If it really was Seth.. the real Seth, Lani hoped he knew what a talking to he'd get for acting so lewd later!

The first hint of pain caught her attention quickly, full focus on the creature. Should he apply more pressure than she'd liked, Lani would hesitate to push him away for the possible impostor he might be...! But no such pain came. Instead, Lani spread her knees further apart to get a better look at what he'd done. Yes, her thigh said in a very primitive tick mark style font. Alright then, it was Seth. Guilt at having doubted him for even a moment tugged the p***k of tears to her eyes, but Lani soothed herself by picking him up again to set him on her lap.

"Sorry," she said sullenly, finger tips brushing softly against his fur.

"Can I help?" Could her magic fuel his recovery? A strange sense of longing squeezed her heart. Did she miss him that much? Perhaps she was far needier than she had ever given herself credit for. But they'd only just sorted out their feelings! It wasn't fair. With a red tinge left only on the tips of her ears, Lani looked away from Seth.

"It's not like I'm trying to rush you, or anything. I imagine you're not very comfortable is all," she lied, too proud to admit the truth.

The sudden ambience of danger that pressed down, caused Anise's knee's to quiver. They threatened to buckle completely, but the woman abruptly found herself swallowed by shadow. She'd have screamed, but it seemed silence enveloped the realm she was pulled into, before the woman was deposited into a strange room.

The scream had already died out of her throat, swallowed by the in between before she landed here. Though, having Pride suddenly appear to her right forced a secondary yelp as she jumped backwards. Heart pounding, her wide eyes stared at Pride as if he'd grown a thousand feet and spewed corrosive poison. Silence lingered after he spoke, then she responded; "Um... I... well... uh... " Words seemed to fail her, Anise fidgeting heavily. She didn't look at him either, turning to lock at some random corner of the room. Carefully, she pulled the sputtering words together and weaved them in a coherent sentence; "I was looking for you... because... I don't have any powers and... well... something's wrong with me... I was hoping you could fix it..."

Her face was red. Her heart was more audible than her words. Her hands wouldn't stop moving, trying to distract the anxiety. If ever a beast could victimize a vulnerable damsel, she was the perfect prey. Anise's disposition was no longer the proud knight they all knew, but quiet clearly a meek girl and one could even say a coward.

The Not Pride - Pride

It took a her moment it seemed, and that was the first clue that something was not all together right. He looked her over for a moment. "Well yes, the wards are still in affect upon you, but...it would seem you have something else plastered over you. It is what I suspect is plastered all over everything else." Though he spoke the truth he had yet to actually look in a mirror his self.

"While I can fix what the wards have done to you, it does not appear it will help much if you wish to gain back that foul wish of yours. Even the very nature of such a thing seems to have changed with this current...whatever is going on." He was still telling the truth as his eyes were aglow with the normally silent magic that allowed him to see all other forms of magic. A curse upon his eyes but one that he had taken very willingly. At this point so much had changed he was almost uncertain of how he was going to fix everything and make it right once more.

As his eyes seemingly returned to normal he looked her over once more. "Still I can't just leave you like this. Not with Sloth in his current temperament and everyone else not in their right mind." His brows nit together in some deep thought for a moment or so before they returned to normal, and he rolled his eyes. "I do not fully understand all of what has changed about you, but still you are you and have always been as such. Though I am suspecting I know the nature of whatever it is that is effecting everything currently. Any way I shall return to you some of your power, just sit still a moment." After a moment more of thought and giving her time to actually sit still as he needed her to, he reached out with his left hand, it was aglow with a soft pale golden light, and for just a moment he allowed it to hover over her heart, before he lightly poked her collar bone and allowed the magic to seep into her and undo what the wards had already undone. He was by no means returning all of her powers, because there was no telling what her already foul wish would do if it was granted again with the nature of things.

"I hope you can help. It is just a tad uncomfortable... if not inconvenient, at the least." Seth's voice resounded, though hearing such a masculine tone coming from such a small creature had some ironic humor to it. It took a split-second for the fact that he spoke to register with the war-machine-turned-pet, and he swiftly turned his head to face Lani as the realization dawned on him. However, he would soon find himself scrambling to stay in her lap as he grew to the size of a Continental Rabbit, falling off her legs and landing on the stone floor with a soft thud. After regaining what composure he could as an herbivore, he sat up and looked at her, tilting his head as his ears flickered and twitched.

"... I'm not sure if this is better or worse. At least now I can speak." He didn't question how this had come about; he knew the powers behind the framework of his existence had finally begun to set in motion his restoration, though how long it would take was yet to be seen.

Relief washed over Lani's worried soul, her hands bolting out in an attempt to help steady Seth. Their situation was.. strange, to say the least. Perhaps the idea that they were newly united helped ease the awkward moment, or maybe it did just the opposite? Uncaring of which explained her flushed features, Lani was just happy to be able to talk to Seth. A small piece of happiness just for her, she thought, beaming.

"Are you hungry?" Lani cocked her head to the side, resting her chin in her palms, an her elbows on her knees. Perhaps food would speed up Seth's recovery. Just as soon as she'd thought it, a pretty silver bowl clanged against the stone step Seth sat on, filled to the brim with fresh vegetables.

"Mmm. It's strange, you know. I just get this gut feeling that something will happen, and it does. Do you think perhaps I'm psychic?" Staring at the bowl with meaning, Lani tried to figure out just what the connection between her premonitions and reality was.

As an after thought, Lani gazed upon Seth's larger form. "Better. Much better. I missed hearing your.." She'd said it before she could stop herself, and she'd said far too much to leave it at that. With a shy tone, she finished, "...voice." Lani looked sheepish, but she was able to meet the rabbit's gaze. Perhaps because he was a rabbit. It was far less intimidating than staring directly into Seth's handsome face, that was for sure.

"I guess I can't keep you in my sleeve anymore," she pouted.

"Well, not particu-" Before he could finish his sentence, there was a bowl of vegetables before him. His mouth opened wide, revealing a massive, fanged, otherworldly maw, and Seth quickly devoured every scrap of edible content present within the silver dish. Running a slightly-elongated tongue along his tapered teeth, he blinked a few times in quick succession before looking to Lani. "Animal instinct, maybe?" He mused aloud, noting the position of her chin in her palm, looking down at him... like a house-rabbit. It was surely unintentional, but he ran along with the incidental humor.

"That some sort of pet joke, 'Are you hungry?' I didn't know I received a demotion from lover to animal." He quipped, cursing under his breath as he realized he was unable to smirk with a leporine face.

As she mused after her abilities, he lifted a hind leg and tilted his head, scritching behind an ear and thumping the stone floor repeatedly, though he continued to listen to her spoken thought. "Whatever magic altered my form seems to have changed your abilities and personality. That's my best guess." He ceased scratching for a moment, side-glancing to her as she paused mid-sentence. When she finally drew up the final word from the depths of her vocal cords, he sat up straight and looked to her. "The quiet was eating at you, hm? Remind me to only give you the silent treatment as a last resort." He replied with a gentle chuckle, then looked to himself before glancing at her sleeves. "I suppose not... unless you'd like to rig me up as a backpack."

Wily Fiend

What delightful mysteries lie confined inside the sorrowful linings of their withered minds?
Like tangles of vines that roil and writhe, snaring and choking as they strive to impress upon you the reason they're alive.
You cry out for divine intervention, playing games with the worst of intentions when it's clear that you're only here to soak up the attention.
But those feelings are fleeting, there's no real way of treating (aside from a beating) that horrible feeling of your humanity retreating.

Pride the Ever-Living

An anxious mind calculated Pride's words. He'd agreed to return some powers to her, which was what she'd come for. Sloth needed to be avoided if he was in a bad mood, which suited her just fine. Agitating the Sins in general seemed like a bad idea. Anise wasn't looking at the apparition of the royal Sin, so she didn't notice his eyes. "Okay," she said softly, the only acknowledgement to his words.

With his instructions, Anise took a still position, working not to move at all. It made her nervous to not fidget, but she managed. When his hand moved toward her, glowing gently, her eyes closed, shielding against the unknown of what came next.

A soft touch on her collarbone, pressed through the fabric of her pale outfit. Magic surged to life, filling her essence with a shimmer of the ethereal. Her eyes opened, glowing vividly with powers that flowed into her. Though Anise recognized something was wrong with her, she couldn't remember what. So when the powers returned, she accepted them as normal, natural.

The resulting blast of pure, undiluted magical power that burst out and slammed into everything with force, was not Anise's typical abilities. Though the magic was not harmful in nature, it was sure to affect the apparition in one way or another. Anise's eyes opened, and some of her anxiety eased. She could now defend herself to an extent, which allowed her to hold back any lingering fear.

"Oh..." Standing slowly, she bowed deeply. "Thank you, very much." Her voice was still soft and genuine, her nervousness nearly unnoticeable. Straightening again, she moved a finger to her cheek, "though.... I'm not ... really sure how to get out of here again..." Her eyes was covered now with her hair and hat. Still she looked around and seemed to take in her surroundings. Crossing her arms over her front, she spoke again; "Should I stay here.... or is there a way I can get back again...?" She was thoroughly confused on what to do next. There was still the issue of something feeling 'wrong' but at least she had some of her powers again.

A big smile stretched Lani's cheeks as she watched Seth in amusement. Was it instinct? Or maybe eating really would help his recovery, and his body knew that. He sure tore through what was in front of him.. maybe they should head to the kitchen?

"That some sort of pet joke, 'Are you hungry?' I didn't know I received a demotion from lover to animal."

"What?" Lani looked taken aback, her posture straightening as she whapped a hand against her chest innocently.

"You certainly ate it all didn't you?" But the bravado she'd put on melted away as Seth complained of his demotion.

"I uh.. Well, it's you know.. hard to be l-lovers like this," she said stupidly, not really sure how to react to Seth's acknowledgement of their status. Good gods! She was an adult! Get it together. Seth was a rabbit right now! With a newfound confidence, Lani knelt down so that they were almost face to face in level.

"I rather like the idea of a leash," Lani said playfully, a hand reaching out to stroke his head. "More than a backpack, anyway."
