Welcome to Gaia! ::

You have to admit there's a certain charm about the drunken female with the throwing knives...

More so for the guy with the rapier.

First man to a suit of plate mail wins!
I need to get a job at the museum...
EDIT: Wow, could you imagine a guy in a suit of knight's armor slashing his way through a horde of zombies? Kick a**.

chainmail would be very effective, cause it is lighter then most armor

but noisier.and its heavier than you think.we arent talking about full plate. There are decent plastic armors that will work wonders,
hell theres even kelvar.

To Lateralus Angel:lol.
whats funny is DW is the guy with the rapier,he thought I was talking
about someone else. xd

I will admit it. The drunken female has a good chance of being more fun to play with than a guy with a rapier. IMO though.

*cough*

Moving on.

We have armor discussion currently on the floor with Shark armor being one of the best.

We also have Paintball armor and Riot Armor mentioned.
Well living out on a farm I have a distinct advantage of having much more time to prepare than those in the larger towns and cities. The closest 'large' town is more than a half an hour away by car so the zombies will take a little time getting here.

I would first go to the next farm over and steal their wheat thrasher. Zombies + Sharp Blades = No Problem. I would then use that wheat thrasher to go into the closest town which is about 7 minutes away and only has a population of about 1000, very manageable from a survival point of view. There I would stock up in any supplies I needed. There is a Grocery store, a Dollar store, a concrete and steel mill, a body garage, four restaurants, a tire store, a hardware store. Just to name a few good places to hit.

Once I had returned with most of the needed supplies for armor/weapons I would then head back to the farm we are at, gear up with anyone else who can fight, head back into town with the van and stock up on anything else we need to survive in harsh environments. Once I was damn sure that we were all going to be fed for at least 2 months, and well protected I would barricade the house and the garage as best as possible and start working on reinforcing the vehicles. I know what it would take some time and it might be risky but eventually I would make a break for the arctic circle.

Zombies unlike living humans can't regulate their temperature so the cold is like a death trap to them. Also none of them would have the foresight to put on a parka!

Kevlar won't stop a puncture. Kevlar is meant to stop a high-velocity impact and spread the force over as much area as possible. It won't even begin to stop a knife. You'd need ceramic armor for that.

Speaking of riot armor, what about a riot shield? The person could block a door while everybody got the materials necessary in order to blockade the door as a hold off point.
I have worn chainmail, and I wouldn;t want to be walking around in it all day..., leather armor would be bettwer, like hard leather... bnut it would be blazing hot in it

Agreed, which is why I would work as fast as possible. Besides with 9 people in this house it wont take long to set up proper barricades or to reinforce the vehicles. One day tops.

Trust me if Zombies were loose I wouldn't sleep until we were driving 100km/h north. I'm Canadian by the way.

wow.lol sounds like where I live. xd
as for going north that sounds excellent.

since we most likey wont have power it means free air conditioning.

All I know for a fact is that my first reaction at all times will be to make sure there's distance between me and said zombies. I will be avoiding melee attacks at all costs, seeing as melee attacks would more than likely cost me my life. So I'm not too worried about melee weapons. The way I figure if I have to use them more than likely I'm about to die anyways.

As for ranged weapons, if I had knives I'd probably throw them out of sheer survival instinct but I'd want to find something of more suitable quality, such as the afore mentioned crossbows. I wouldn't particularly want firearms, but if that's what's available than I shall certainly make the most of it.

Once again I'm not too worried about armor. If I'm in the situation where I'm going to be bitten then more than likely I'm not going to survive. I'm trying to make sure at all times there's plenty of distance between me and the zombies and if I'm cornered then...well...my chances of survival are zilch. I'd prefer probably a goodpair of jeans and a well fitting shirt that isn't loose in the least, so I can move better. Jeans simply because they tend to be more durable than other types of pants and pants are going to take the most punishment. Wouldn't want my shirt to be the least bit loose so it doesn't snag on something. That could potentially be a life and death situation there.

After that, the game's staying alive and I'll probably promptly forget the fact that I'm female and take up more masculine roles, knowing me anyways. Sex'll probably be the last thing on my mind and anyone who tries may feel my wrath. As I said before I'll probably end up in the trenches, especially considering during any type of crisis I cannot bear to sit still and absolutely have to take some sort of action.

I think that if the government ever discovered that there was an uncontrolled zombie outbreak somewhere, they would sacrifice people in the name of the greater good. I'd bet the whole area would be nuked to bedrock. Draconian measures can sometimes be best in the long run.
