I think the whole phone numbers thing is rubbish too. Email alerts fine, but phone numbers? That's a little extreme. Like "OMFG DON'T FORGET ABOUT GAIA NOW!" I know loads of people spend many an hour on here, but that's just invasive. I'm waiting for the whole "Let's just swap phone numbers instead of going through gaia" and then the "what's your address?" coming into play.

Can you imagine that? Getting an automated letter sent to your house every time someone replied to you? I wonder if they'll ever bring that out xD

I agree that the Gaians need to be heard here....including reports! Half the time i don't really think that the people are punished at all.....it's hard to tell...

I can't believe I read that whole post but its very interesting, well put together, and damn true so to say. I agree with you in most if not all of those things. I've been on this site since 2004 and I can't believe what this site has turn into in those years to now.

The 2% was completely stupid to add, both parties lose, the people that buy because the people that sell Raise the gold its worth by an outrageous ammount. And the people that sell because they get charge 2% of what they sell. It's a lose lose situation.

The Aquariums, Totally agree with you, a few years back I had an idea of having aquariums, but for the houses, like a little aquarium in the house and put your lake caught fish in them but this is stupid and I can buy a REAL fish with what their charging for a pixel one, why would I bother to buy one here then. But I see now why some user buy them, the Drop bags they get when they die, that was smart, hey you get this fish, when it dies, you get a item, the goldfish so far give only things with gold in the name have to see what the others hold, I saw some user saying 'Trying to kill my fish' to get the drop bag for whatever item they get.

Just everything you said... I do like some of the new feautres and updates on gaia but most of them... just a waste of time and destroying this site. what it was, a game, some fun to come home to when you wanted to talk to other people and make friends that werent the ones close to you, roleplay, nothing of that is done now.

Can't still beleive they let them self be bought... I use to come home and log on, not as much anymore.

The Gaia cash thing, I agree with Minorixx, when it first came out, oh cute, look some items you can buy with cash, but now MOST if not ALL of them, good ones the most, that come out. Not so cute or bright either anymore.

AND the Letters, God, what happen to that, they are three times what they use to be and the items usually are crappy now, compare to what we use to get

What happen to simple poses, no now theres 20 something and they have to erase some because they don't fit, thats because they dont think, they dont design the item say hey were going to have all these poses, there come durrng this time and those around that NO they just throw them all together, its messes up,. they send announcement about fixing it and deleting some pose that they dont think some user liked.

The Alruna's rose for one, what happen to the PG-13. I have heard its way to sexual, and not surprise at all that a lot of people have put sexual avatars in the arena because of them and with them... its stupid, sure some of the poses are ok but the last ones. And yeah Pg 13 whent down the drain LONG ago, they dont care anymore, I've seen 7 years old running around this place, thinking they own gaia, and some have been on since they where that young or close and now are 13 and up so their fine but not like the admins ever cared who joined as long as people joined.

There's a lot of things wrong in this site.... there use to be none, only complains about glitches, people wondering when the sealeds where going to be open, what items were we getting. Not this circus they have created

I am actually glad I found this. I was looking for the original thread and got an error earlier.
I'd been wanting to read what you had offered up against the site to offer some of the things I have noticed.

First: Not only was Word Bump off for a while, but did anyone notice that user-to-user gifting feature, that was around during the old layout that was still around in late '06 and not the CS item gifting crap, was down for MONTHS?
I did, as I had birthdays and anniversaries to gift for, and was unable to surprise them and was forced to trade. Not so bad, but these items were magnificent, for someone that is 'dual-broke.'

Second:I started in '05. I was absolutely heartbroken when our computer died three days later. I am a bit of a goody-goody, and refuse to get on at school. By the time my mom got the new computer in late '06, there was a change imposed and I found something wrong.
I could not get on after I found my 'year of birth' was something absurd like 2036 - an age I didn't put. I still am unable to fix it because I found that the age could not be changed. It's basically a ban, and I was forced to create this account. *facepalm* Things only went downhill from there~.

Third: Alright, not to complain or sound repetitive, but I can't afford the cash shop items. My mom is a single mom, and I'm not quite able to get a job because our white-collar town is afraid of my look. ("She's going to steal something, trail her." Just yesterday!)
I actually have to rely on birthday and the holidays to get anything I want, and then i usually spend it on books for school and to buy new pants (Tripp FTW).
To say things are over-priced is a bit of an understatement. I actually was going to buy MC's when I finally had a spare five bucks, and my computer glitched. I almost thought the cash-tab that had popped up first was the MC price and had a fit. I had to spend ten minutes fishing through the site to find if the price had been changed without my notice. (Thank the Gods it hasn't!)

Fourth:I have wanted to report several people, but after warnings from friends, have restrained. I restrained because they aren't looked into immediately, it so seems. Several people have come into a furry forum I was in and because they were putting generally harassing things could be reported. No one did because it wouldn't take effect anytime soon.
I also have seen several anti-homosexual forums in the GD. Did anyone report them, doubtful. Why though? I'm thinking that it is because it would take to long and the person would hurt many more.
Then there are the people in the GD that claim to be ready to commit suicide and people going in to say all manner of nasty things when you should be going in to encourage them. No real chance those reports are looked at yet, yeah?

Fifth: Finally, I would like to point out that I have both a facebook and a myspace. I actually do not use them, because people seem to be rather..... anti-(my beliefs) there. I came to Gaia to actually have a place where my goth-ness, polytheism, and Anime-love would be accepted. Any guess as to how this is turning out once I figured out I was a furry? All the myspacers and facebookers are here now, too, and I can't be me.*facedesk* Stop the aim to get people that are not quite your original demographic. It's only hurting those that came for the anime and art.

It makes me a little sad, because no matter how hard I work, I've been accused twice of botting when I was just looking lightly through the art arenas for character ideas. I vote, poll, post and comment for my gold just as everyone else has before, but it doesn't make a dent.
You can't catch every person that acts rudely and harasses people. They just keep coming on if banned. What can you do if the reports aren't seen for ages?

So you say that items are over priced and you have no money but when you do get money for your birthday, you choose to spend it else where? I guess I don't see the point of sharing that info. If it's over priced and you can't afford it, that's one thing but you just said you get money for holidays.

I was making a bit of a point that you might have missed. There are some users who really don't have the money for it because they have to spend it on certain things because of the crap American economy. They are in America, and yeah there company is crap, but they really shouldn't be asking money for little trinkets that are ten times better than what is released elsewhere.

And not to continue to sound like a lame nit-pick, but i do believe I stated that I didn't report because of the TIME it takes. With the time, you may as well not have, especially with the lacking changes that seem to be made when they are caught. I actually have begun reporting again, but that doesn't help. Sure I restrain from minor things like people teasing you in forums, but when someone is outright going against someones existence in the case of the suicides, I will. (Don't seem to find many recently though.)

I actually left Gaia over the summer because I've got pissed off with their system of cash=win, but then found the aquarium and got hooked. I've felt the site has been going downhill over the last year, the first stumble being a lack of Easter event. I used to be a constant report sender, which I need to get back into the habit of doing.

I will not, however, get any more Cash or MCs. For one, the recent ones have been shite. For another, I'm saving up for the MGM London Expo, so I can go over there and interrogate whichever staff member is there about the pitiful state of the site.

Can I suggest that you add something about improving the Journal system? It needs a few tweaks, even if it's not in the same state as the guilds.
