All that text and you still didn't really answer my question. You did call me little a few times though which I find funny since I'm 22 years old...
If you act little, I call you little. Simple as that. I find it immature that you are picking fights for no reason.

So anyway, you're saying that you don't have to prove your faith to me, fair enough. Most of my family is religious and it never bothered me. You see they don't thank god for things other humans have done, they thank the humans who did it. Which actually was the entire point of my post.
And so your post that's basically just "PROVE YOUR GOD TO ME" was really just saying "One should thank the people who did the action, not God"? And that somehow relates to me telling the other person they were hypocritical for saying that atheists don't attack people?

Yeah, don't post at 4am ever again because those are three completely different things and none of them are really all the related.

The OP is happy and she thinks it's because she found god. I interperated that as "God has made me happy", which I think is just not right. Why is it so hard to understand that some things, even if you can't quite explain it, is actually something you've done. Everything that can't be explained isn't some form of divine intervention.
True. No one here EVER said anything against the idea that everything can be explained as a divine intervention. In fact, even as a Christian I believe both her stories can be explained otherwise. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that whatever the reason, it made her change her mind about her beliefs and she's happier for it.

Also, to thank God is not a bad thing...but its very important to thank the person who did it as well. Usually, I thank everyone involved in something good happening in my life, including God, because they all are involved.

So what I claim to be fact is not fact to you? Ok, then how am I supposed to discuss with this you? This is the thing that bothers me with religious people. You can't really come up with an answer based on facts and reality so instead you claim that the facts I presented aren't real.
You are aware that by doing so you pretty much disagree with anything anyone tells you that you aren't sure or convinced of. Kinda stubborn don't you think?
This has nothing to do with being religious. This has to do with philosophical debates and I'm telling you this from a scholarly point, not a religious one. Just because I'm religious doesn't mean religion frames ALL of my opinions of the world. So this isn't something "with religious people"; this is something with the very nature of humans and the subjectivity of ideas and beliefs.

If you wish to think that science is facts, then good for you. You can continue believing that if you want. I find it cute how you can completely miss the purpose and intentions of science and then actually attempt to effectively employ it in your explanations and debates.

Oh and I think I nailed it, you not agreeing is just your opinion. Which, based on the logic of your respons, I can ignore while still carrying on this conversation.

Oh and it just occured to me... If you don't care, why did you bother replying?
Um, no you didn't. Yes, my not agreeing is just my opinion. But so is yours. And you can ALWAYS ignore someone's opinions and ideas while talking to them, but its not a good idea.

And I never said "I don't care". I said "you are a insignificant speck and not worth me explaining my beliefs to you". Though I don't care, I never care. Gaia is for my entertainment only and you people are really just my pixelated toys. My responding to you is for my pleasure, not because I care about you, your beliefs, or your statements. You people amuse me...so please do continue smile .

Now I'm curious. You've said several times that I've attacked people. When did I? As far as I know I stated my opinion on the matter in the first part of my first post in this thread (one you've so far ignored) and after that I responded to your post about atheists attacking christians. I never attacked you or anyone else, I simply stated my opinion and since it doesn't agree with yours you take it as an attack?

The fact is with your post I originally replied to you made a generalisation about atheists, one that is not true. Yes some atheists outright attack christians but they are usually the ones who no one cares about.

Difference of opinion =/= Attacking someone for their opinion.

And you're not the only one using this place as your own personal playground missy. It's funny how you seem to think you're better than the rest of the people on these forums and that we're somehow your toys. You can't seem to realise when you yourself have been toyed with. wink

For the fist example, did you follow up on the guy afterward? Did you make sure his improvement was permanent and not psychological? Even if his legs didn't work well, that doesn't mean that he couldn't stand for a short while. I knew a few people who needed wheelchairs most of the time, but could stand or walk for a short while, just not for long. And how do you know for sure that this guy was really using the money for his legs? Maybe he stood up because the guy was invading his personal space and creeping him out. Or because he was religious and was compelled to by peer pressure, even if it was hard.

For the snake part, that snake must have been at least partially domesticated or trained to be in a display. Even though it got down, it may have felt insecure and wanted back to it's familiar trainer, or it was even part of the demonstration. If it was around a trainers hand, it couldn't have been that big or venomous. Nobody was in any danger, most snakes are very benign. You even said you couldn't see much, perhaps somebody else waved it back, just a simple hand wave was probably enough to get the snake to retreat to it's trainer.

In any case, if this were real, these people are evil because they are not in hospitals helping sick people or in places where venomous snakes are a problem. Seriously, if this were real how selfish is that?

Neither of those stories were very convincing, I'm sorry.

I agree with this.

@ OP: Those were hardly convincing. I actually find it quite funny, but whatever you want to believe.
The first one sounds like the guy was never handicapped with his legs to begin with.

A lot of people fake various diseases and what have you to get money from naive kind hearted people.

The second one sounds like she scared the animal more than anything.

It wouldn't convince me of anything considering "random (fake) healings" happen in all religions, and the animal part is just too stupid really.

But whatever, I'm glad that you're glad about your new religion. 3nodding

To some posts: believing in God doesn't automatically make you a Christian neutral

If you believe in the christian god it does make you some kind of christian.

Or maybe... a Jew?

or Muslim, they also believe in the same God.

"My miracles were these.

We had a little boy at church and he was hit by a car and in a coma. They were gonna pull the plug in a couple hours (this was on a sunday and we were all at church). Everyone in church got down on their knees and we all prayed. Just as we said, 'Amen.' we got a phone call saying he had woken up.

A girl ran away from home and the cops couldn't catch her. We're friends with the cop who was chasing her and he kept calling us to keep us informed. I myself went and prayed that God would just 'stop' her. The cop called again and said it was like she ran into a wall and just stopped, and that's how he caught her.

My thing is, I'd rather believe than not. If we believe, then there's a hope for a future in death. By not believing, what is there to hope for after death?"

"No, but your faith in that God does."
Congratulations.

But I'm still an athiest, I'm sorry.

:] But I praise you for finding faith in God.

But I am very doubtful.

What is God?

Where is God?

If God is real, why does he like the suffering and such? There is so much.

There are too many unanswered questions, but I guess that's why you must have Faith.

Congratulations, again! :3

Excuse me?!

How dare you say that she leads a better life than me! I'm an athiest. I donate to charity all the time, and help abused and crippled children. I am an animal activist, and a recycler. I clean up highways. I am that kind of person. Do NOT tell me that she leads a better life than me, because of her religion.

Religion is a belief, but it does NOT define who you are or how great your life is. Everyday you wake up and make a choice "I am going to make my day good today." Or "Today is going to be terrible."

She lives a great life, and so do I. I'm not saying my life is better than hers, but her life isn't better than mine because she is religiously active.

DO NOT make generalizations like that in front of me.

"No, but your faith in that God does."

Nope. Jews have faith in God.

Your faith in Jesus Christ makes you a Christian, and if you believe that Jesus Christ was a divine being, that makes you Christian.

Seriously, there are ******** millions of children starving all over the world, why would Jesus take the time to shut up a snake for an obnoxious, impatient old lady and not feed the bellies of starving children who pray every single day?

i have always believed in God.

im happy for you.

Oh lol, hallelujah!
Have you ever even read the bible?

"If you actually read the Bible, you yourself would understand that God gave men free choice to help others, to hurt others. God gave us free will to follow him and to not. The problems in Africa are caused by Africans. The genocides, the wars amongst tribes, the epidemics....we send relief, we send aid, order food....at least, I do. What do you do?

And there's another story. A parable about a shepherd leaving 99 sheep in a pen to go search for his one lost sheep. The shepherd is Jesus, leaving the Christians to search for that one lost soul. Or he's leaving behind people already noticing God's work so that he may show God's work to another.

I'm not trying to sway you, but let you understand a little."

"I don't believe he was a 'divine' being. He came to earth as a human. He felt temptation, hunger, pain....he was God in flesh. My faith in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is what makes me a Christian. Jews are Jews, same as Christ was, they just don't believe he was God's Son. Muslims believe in God and Jesus, but they believe Jesus was a prophet and God another form of their God Allah. Isis, the God of death, is a mythological God of ancient Egyptians."
