So idk if you got your answer but I did a test between my discords on a DM group chat, if all members are out of the chat and you delete it, if you create a new group, all previous messages won't be there
Discord itself might have the files, but other people won't be able to see those msgs again
Edit: on PC you hit an X
On Phone you hold down the group and hit leave group

you could literally just move on, the group chat would be deleted for all intents and purposes. no one can ever rejoin it, it is lost to the void & gone forever
