I wouldn't be surprised. If anything, Lanzer is kept around so there won't be a rebellion. He does show up in comics once in awhile, like the Rejected Olympics, but that doesn't really mean he has much say with issues about Gaia.

If anything, Lanzer is like Steve Jobs when he wasn't in charge of Apple. Only Apple got their s**t together, Gaia didn't.
