If this is a bug in the server than it has to have gone viral because I noticed the same issue coming up with an image I was using hosted on tinypic.com. I tried the tip about using ' o' in front of the 'i' and it also works on images host there. I'm not sure what to think now because It appears that it's not strictly photobucket images.
or it has to be a problem with either internet browsers or something on gaia itself.
In which case, has anyone pointed it out to the admins on here?
I'm noticing a trend with users who are using firefox too.

Might be. Someone else said that it works fine on internet explorer but firefox had problems.
Haha everywhere, you are everywhere XD
I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem! I'll see if it is the same on chrome and get back to ya.
Also, for me, it is only my signature/randomly generated images that is having a problem, Images I put in posts seem to work (like the front page of my art shop works) Is it the same for you?
Count me as another person experiencing the problem. I tried to post a random image code in my signature but all that shows up for me is "User Image". It does the same when I post it in a thread. Boy is it annoying. >>;;
So it does seem to be a Firefox issue, but I wonder if it's something that Firefox needs to fix or that Gaia needs to fix?

dont think its gaia, its more of photobucket's fault :s so theyre still fixing lots of bugs i bet
I am using Firefox and have been experiencing this issue for weeks now, making me believe it has to do with how the more recent Firefox versions are reading the image codes because everything appears fine on Chrome.
One of my RP user's reported this issue to me a week ago, however they also reported something that baffled me quite a bit, mostly because my initial observation was so far off.
The information she had given me reported that photoshop had given the "User Image" link, however later added that Tinypic also started giving her issues. The time of the second report came just about when Tinypic started using HTML5 photo embedding instead of their older HTML4, and this post also confirms my speculations.
For those of you who are technical:
After looking through the specifics of each site, I noticed that both of them are utilizing the new HTML5 embedding system for photos, which uses a different tag set than HTML4, and runs a bit differently when coded. In HTML4, the image would be given it's own page for embedding purposes, however in HTML5, it can oftentimes be embedded by using the imagesource tag alone, not being given it's own individual page
(Yes, I know that it's only reading a specific file on the server, I am using this term for those who don't typically set up their own servers)
By adding the 'o' before the URL for Photobucket, you are telling it to use the original codeset and codelinks, which function a lot more like HTML4 than HTML5. However, this can be done without adding the restrictions on the image size (I believe it resizes embedded photos autmatically to 1280x1080 or some resolution like that) and quality, by simply using your browser's compatibility mode.
Simple solutions to try:
Update all your things! Having an up-to-date java runtime environment, flash player, graphics card drivers, bios, browser and OS is an essential part of system maintenance and is really easy to do if you get into the habit.
Run your current browser in compatibility mode! This should do the same thing as adding the 'o' to the front of the URL without actually restricting the image size and quality because of photoshop, and it should work even if it's not YOUR link. I highly suggest updating your browser before you do this though, as it can be a hastle and very confusing at times.
Try a different browser! I recommend Opera or Chrome, they both are extremely user-friendly, and typically have many less errors than Firefox or Internet Explorer because they update many of the modules and plugins automatically.
Make sure that no other program is causing the issues! There are certain plugins, browser additions, toolbars, and some media and freeware programs that can really cause a LOT of issues, it is best to make sure that you don't have any toolbars or programs that you don't know are completely legitimate.
That's about all, if you feel that you could use more explanation, or you would like to request a hotfix pack or found a different fix yourself, please let me know VIA. PM or by QUOTING ME IN THIS THREAD.
These little fixes should make your life much easier, and will solve many more problems than you might think, so even if you don't have this problem but have another in your browser or other programs, checking back on these simple hot-fixes can probably help you out.
