11-29-04 - We're back! Fires, Gweir, Pinkie, Miles, Leyli, and Ren have finally grown up! Since my old certs were lost, I decided to restart with a much simpler, sleeker version.

Child certs of the first two models can not be restored, since they have been lost. If anyone is missing certs of an expected adult version, they must be able to provide the child cert. Without the child cert, I'm afraid the realian can not be restored. I remind everyone to always save their realian once it arrives in pickup.

Britain's Kessen is up to be restored, and Shaoli's custom realian is also in the wings. The workshop will be shut down during this restoration period. ^-^

<center>About Realians

Realians are artificial humans. In a time when humanity has spread far and wide throughout the galaxy, Realians have become the solution to the growing lack of human resources. A wonder of molecular bioengineering, their biological composition comes in various forms based on need, from carbon based duplicates of real humans to those based on silicon or liquid metal. Some are even hybrids of these model types. All Realians can be identified by their distinctive yellow eyes.

They have basic human needs, such as eating and sleeping, so they can not be treated as robots, although they are overall stronger and tougher than humans. Still, their brains are very much like computers, and they can be programmed in various ways. The one exception is that it is illegal to tamper with the emotions of any but military Realians.

All Realians come with very basic emotions, which can be expanded on with time and experience. The same applies to their basic lifeskills program. These are necessary, since most Realians are manufactured as either a child or adult, and never grow beyond that. They must be prepared to work right off the assembly line.

Because of this, Realians can oftentimes be confused about the world and their own feelings, due to their lack of knowledge. As a result, many usually come across as being robotic or extremely naive.

There is now a very experimental type of Realian, designed with special nanotechnology that allows it to develop from child to adulthood. It's obviously not a true emulation of human growth, but it is experimental, after all. Along with a very unique program that allows their minds to develop from childhood to maturity. This same program will trigger the transformation to adulthood when they reach the right stage of mental development.

As these Realians are very impressionable, they'll need to be guided carefully by a responsible owner. Vector is looking for customers to help with field testing. Could it be you?

1. How many stages do Realians have?
</b>
They have two. They start as a child, and if they have the proper software installed, will spontaneously develop into an adult version at any time after seven days.

2. What is with the model and serial numbers?
</b>
You'll be welcome to give your Realian a name, but Vector uses those numbers for their own identification records. You'll be required to give those numbers upon purchase. Also look to #3 below...

3. Why do they all look the same?
</b>
All Realians of the same model share the same basic characteristics, aside from some differences in coloration. Most general-purpose Realians have only one model that is mass produced. But the new experimental Realians being sold here will have models produced in significantly lower numbers, probably not more than five, before being discontinued. Serial numbers identify an individual Realian within his/her model group.

4. Is this a roleplay pet?
</b>
Rping is not required. However, rping your Realian can possibly affect its development, impacting its final appearance as an adult. (Although this will likely be very, very rare.) The choice is yours to make.

5. Do Realians breed?
</b>
Realians can not reproduce. They are created sterile. *whisper* ...but! If two Realians become very close, they may receive permission from certain sympathetic individuals within the Third R&D Division to create their own child in a secret workshop. Unfortunately, due to limited Realian rights, they will not be able to keep the child...*/whisper*

6. What is the purpose of the experimental Realians?

7. How do I buy one?
</b>

8. Does it HAVE to grow up?
</b>
A child Realian without the special software preinstalled can be purchased for half price (3k). It will never grow up. Unless you change your mind later, and request software installation for an additional 3k charge.

9. Are there refunds?
</b>
Nope, no refunds. Realians require delicate maintenance. They should not be bought on a whim.
<b>
10. Can I sell my Realian?
</b>
The experimental models can not be resold. So, no.
<b>
11. Can I steal the artwork, for whatever reason?
</b>
No. Any threats leveled towards Vector employees will be terminated by the company battle android, KOS-MOS.

12. Can I bring a flamethrower into the shop?
</b>
No, only KOS-MOS may handle the flamethrower. =p Please be civil and play nice. If you scare the Realians, you'll have to leave. In other words, please keep to Gaia's TOS.

13. How many Realians may I own?
</b>
As many as you want. But only one of each model. However, should a flatsale extend into a number of days, there may be exceptions to this rule.

14. May I direct link the images?
</b>
Sorry, no. The images will be taken down a few days after being received by the owner. Should the owner miss the adult form, it will only be replaced for retrieval upon request. Please save your Realian to your own servers. Photobucket is recommended. It is also important to save your realian because if I lose the images, and you can not provide any version of it, I will not be able to restore it.

15. Where can I roleplay my Realian?
</b>
The RRR has been established for Realian roleplaying. However, there's no complaints if you wish to roleplay in the shop thread as well.

Welcome to the showcase of the Third R&D Division!

This is where our special experimental Realians are sold. They will mostly be sold via flatsale, although there may be auctions in the future. Provided Miyuki can keep herself from crashing into other divisions... You can still see where the walls melted...

You'll know when Realians are for sale when there's a notice in the bulletin. There will also be a big red sign below the blue "The Showcase" title, screaming FLATSALE ON!!! If you don't see the big red sign there, then the sale isn't happening yet. Any attempts to order a Realian before then will be ignored. Also any attempts to order through PMs will be ignored. Please make your order in the thread, then send the trade.

Realians can not reproduce, in other words, they are sterile, and can not breed. That is law, under the Species Preservation Act.</b>

However... Many of us within the Third R&D Division feel great sympathy for Realian rights. We do work with Realians everyday, after all. So whenever one of the two "workshop bench" slots are open, that means that your Realian and his/her partner may approach the person at the corner desk. They will then be slipped into the secret workshop.

Due to their limitations, they can not reproduce like humans. But with access to our labs, two Realians can use their own schematics to produce a new model of child Realian based on their designs. Anywhere from 2-5 children may be produced.

Unfortunately, the parents of Realian children can not keep them. That is beyond our ability to control. Like all Realians, they will be sold. Still, the parent Realians may be able to see their children again, should they encounter them...

Workshop FAQ


1. Can same-sex couple Realians use the workshop?

Yes, the workshop is hardly gender specific.

2. Can the owners of the Realians who used the workshop claim any of the offspring?

Yes, the owners of the two involved Realians may each keep one of the offspring, or choose to give it to someone of their choice. Either the owner or the person chosen will pay 6k or 3k for the Realian child. (6k for a growing child, or 3k for a child which will not grow. As usual, the software can be installed at a later date.) If they do not choose to keep a child, they will be flatsaled with the rest.

3. Can a child Realian use the workshop?

No, only adult Realians may use the workshop. Child Realians leave the workshop all the time, but one going *in* looks too suspicious. There are some special exceptions, but very few.

4. How many times can the workshop be used?

Each Realian may only use the workshop twice. Too many trips by the same Realian will attract attention. It's too risky.

5. Can two Realians belonging to the same owner enter the workshop?

Sorry, but that makes the owner too traceable through the child if someone were suspicious enough to check things over. The two Realians must belong to separate owners.

6. How long after a trip to the workshop can a Realian go back?

At least a week. Being in there too often is very suspicious after all.

Model Traits and Model Types

In the workshop, the resulting child model will inherit some of the traits of each of the parent Realians. This is just a mixture of features, although something new may occasionally appear.

But some Realians may also pass on their Model type, which will manifest in unique ways. This will be a list of model types that can be inherited, and what kind of feature is passed. It will be added to as each is discovered.


<b>Inherited Model Types</b>

<i>Weapons-Grade</i> : Weapons-Grade Realians are built for battle. They're stronger, faster, and tougher than ordinary Realians. They're designed to handle heavy artillery that a human could never wield. Many have their emotions altered so they feel no fear in battle. The feature these types will appear with is a weapon.

There are also special models that can not pass on their special type or features. Although they will still pass on traits. This list of model types will also be added to as each is discovered.


<b>Special Model Types</b>

<i>Jr</i> : This model is designed to resemble one of the young leaders of the famous Kukai Foundation! It is not weapons-grade, but it comes with a set of guns, which may or may not be visible. The unusual feature of this model is that it refuses to grow! However, this is one of the few child models that may use the workshop, as it's easy to pass him off as the Little Master. And no one gets in the way of the Little Master! Each pure Jr model comes with a unique lineart.

<i>Jr-Devil</i>: A variation of the Jr model. It has the same features of the Jr model, but also has horns and a devil tail!

<i>Kirschwasser</i>: A model of realian designed to gather information for the construction of the 100 series prototype. They are intensely jealous of the MOMO model, as they felt that she was the one their father, Joachim Mizrahi, truly loved. Now they are devoted to the madman Albedo. Although they never grow, they can still use the workshop. Each pure Kirschwasser comes with a unique lineart.
