That's right. We are looking to hire someone to redo, update and maintain an owner's list. With Hatter in school and Skye working neither of them have the brainpower for the continuous coding and maintaining of an owner's list, so we're looking for someone who'd be willing to do it!

What the job includes:

• Taking the current owner's list and reformatting it to be easier to keep organized.
  
• Adding all of the Talaye that have not been added to the owner's list.
  
• Maintaining the owner's list as new Talaye arrive.
  
• Being trustworthy and reliable. (Very important since we'll be giving you access to the PB)

You will be paid for your work! We are willing to discuss payment once you're hired, be it in a percentage of gold or with custom Talaye!

What does this mean, you ask? It means that EVERYTHING is now available through customs as long as there are slots open for them. YAAAAAY!

A small note has been added to the custom post regarding things that have been reserved for future events and are thus unavailable through customs of any sort (Gaia Gold or USD).

Also, a note on Elementals. The current lines for Elemental Talaye have no relation to past elementals in the shop. They, along with the butterflies, are more like sub-species of Talaye that evolved into what they are based on their surroundings whereas the former elements were Talaye truly of that element. Any future custom elemental Talaye must be approved through the shop and be checked against the list of currently existing elements to make sure that there are no doubles.

Hatter and Skye are trying to earn money to pay off the unexpected repairs that Hatter needed to have done to her car. As some of you know, Hatter has been unemployed for some time and these repairs not only wiped out what she had left in savings, but they required her to use her credit card as well. Without a job payments on a credit card are rather difficult to make so, together, we're trying to earn $300 $400 to pay that off.

What does that mean?

It means that commissions for USD transfered via paypal are now open. It also means that Hatter will be opening special slots that are only available until we earn our goal amount: 'anything goes' and 'custom elemental', neither of which currently have a value for Gaia gold customs short of bribery.

Next, Hatter and Skye will be opening customs at 5pm EST tomorrow. That's 5pm EST on Thursday, April 10th. These custom openings -will- include prices for the Earth and Wind elementals which means I -should- have a bit more information up on them before slots open

Q: Can I work for you?
A: Nope. Talaye isn't currently hiring and, in the event that we do need extra help we'll come looking for it. ^^

Q: Can I buy a Talaye?/Are their any available?
A: Check the availability post and your question will be answered!

Q: Pet trade?
A: That all depends on what you're offering and what you're asking for. Send a PM to Talaye with your offer and we'll get back do you... And please don't be discouraged if we say 'no'.

Q: When's the next Flatsale?
A: Stay tuned and you'll find out!

Q: How much do Talaye cost at a Flatsale?
A: 4k. If you win one at a flatsale you have 24 hours to send the trade to Talaye. If you do not send the trade within 24 hours the Talaye will go back up for grabs.

Q: What is a Wild Talaye?
A: A Wild Talaye is an owner-less Talaye who has wandered into the meadow looking for a new owner. Roleplay with them and see if they decide to stay with you.

Q: Do I have to roleplay to own a Talaye? / How active must I be?
A: No, you do not have to roleplay and you needn't be active enough to earn the Owner of the Year award. We -do- appreciate it if owner's peek into the thread from time to time though... It makes us feel special.

Q: Do roleplayers get extra perks?
A: Always. Roleplayers are the ones who'll end up with evolved Talaye, and keep in mind that only evolved Talaye can breed more than three times.

Q: This is too much for me. Can I sell/trade/give away my Tala?
A: You may not sell or trade your Talaye for any reason. You may give it away to a friend at any time though.

Q: If it's a Newbie flatsale can we enter and try for a friend who dosn't have one? And by 'newbie' do you mean no Tala at all or no non-growing mini?
A: Yes, you can try for friends that don't own a Talaye. By 'newbie' we mean people without a normal size Talaye or a growing mini. Those with non-growing minis may try.

Q: Whats a Talaye mini pot?
A: It's an item given out during an event, that will grow a Talaye mini pup into an adult Talaye mini.

Q: Can minis given pots evolve if rped enough?
A: NO! Mini's that where given pots to ((ie. they were originally non-growing)) can NOT evolve.

Q: What if I give the mini a second pot? Will it evolve then?
A: Nope. Pots only bring minis to the adult stages... Other than that it's just a waste of a good pot.

The Origins of the Talaye

Come child, and sit by the fire for a while, and I shall tell you a tale of hope and trust and honor.

This story has been passed down through many generations from Storyteller to Storyteller. We do not speak of the details, for to do so would put our dear friends at risk. We do not wish for their lands of origin to be ravished by the hungers of modern man. And so we tell the story of Dream Walker, who first met the Eagle Dogs we call the Talaye.

It was many, many turns of the sun ago when a great Chief of our people fell prey to a terrible sickness. None of our medicines could cure him, and the elders feared that his last days were close at hand. We sent scouts to every corner of the world, seeking any medicines which might heal him in his fevered state, but none were to be found. He was a young chief, and had only newly taken a wife. He had no sons to lead us were he to pass on.

And so it was that we wept and looked for signs and portents to aid him, lest wars arise over who should follow him as leader of our nation. On the 13th night of his sickness, he disappeared from his sick bed and was nowhere to be found. The hunters all set out in search of him, fearing perhaps a rival tribe had captured him in the dark of night. But this was not the case. For 12 days the warriors argued and fought over who would lead with our Chief gone. For 12 days blood was shed and fear reigned over our people.

Come dawn of the 13th day, our great Chief strode over the hill into the village, hale and hearty, free of sickness and looking stronger than ever. In each arm he carried a woven basket in which a colorful blanket was set. He told us a fantastic tale of how he had been beckoned in his fever dream, and lead through the hills to a hidden valley, where he met with creatures of great beauty and kindness and power.

They had been hunted nigh unto extinction by dark and dreadful creatures, and as a last hope had called to our Chief through his dreams to come and rescue the last of their kind, two pups who were magically contained in the baskets to hide them from predators. In return for our people's aid and protection of these pups, they cured the great Chief of his illness.

That day, the Chief adopted the new name of Dream Walker, and soon enough the first of the pups emerged, in a burst of magic, from their baskets. They appeared as healthy hounds of an indeterminate breed, of vibrant hues and magnificent patterns, and upon their backs were the wings of eagles. We called them Talaye, for it suited them, and they learned our language, and later they learned English as well.

Through the generations we have protected and aided them, sheltering their newborns and keeping them safe from harm. But now our own numbers dwindle, and we must seek out new protectors for their offspring. So it is we seek those of pure intent and protective spirits to become guardians of the Talaye.

[Talaye]

Talaye were first discovered and domesticated by Native Americans, so they have grown to adopt a very shamanic nature. They seem to be an odd cross between a collie pup and an eagle... although this hasn't been proven. Talaye pups don't really speak, but rather make little noises (that you'll just translate with brackets when roleplaying), whereas adult and evolved Talaye speak perfect human English. Regardless of age, all Talaye can at least understand the human English language.

There are four stages that can be achieved in a Tala's lifetime, and these are:



Basket
Newborn Talaye are extremely fragile and shy, so they hide in a little basket for 3 - 10 days before finally coming out to meet their parents and owners.

Pup
Pups are innocent, carefree souls who spend most of their time exploring, playing, forming friendships and learning about life. Pups remain pups for 2-3 weeks, and during this time remain close to their parents.
2-3 feet tall.
Capable of carrying 1 basket in flight, although wobbily.

Adult
The adult Tala is independent, and hopefully more mature than the Tala pup. Adults can mate (usually for life), breed three times, and start their own families.
3-4 feet tall.
Capable of carrying 1 to 2 pup in flight.

[Talaye]

Elemental Sub-Species

Earth - Earth elementals are very in touch with their element and nature itself. They seem to be very in touch with the world around them. Their tiny hooves make it easier for them to climb rocks and play in the mountains that they've come to the Meadow from. These Talaye cannot fly.

Wind - Wind elementals are the expert fliers of Talaye, able to reach speeds and heights that regular Talaye cannot. The species are also often marked by tiny head wings positioned by the ears and additional feathering on the hind legs.Some say that the Wind Talaye are a little bit bird-brained... I'm sure they disagree.

Water - Water elementals make their homes in rivers, lakes, ponds, streams and oceans. They are very good swimmers, making up for their lack of flight with their movement through water. While they may venture onto land from time to time they generally prefer staying close to water at all times. If out of the water for too long their fins will dry up and they will begin to feel very sluggish and tired.

Fire - Closely related to the Wind elementals, the Fire elementals also possess feathered wings. Although they can be used in flight (roughly the same as a regular Talaye's wings) they are mostly for show, often containing vibrant colors matching those of their tail-feathers. They enjoy warm weather and are, for the most part, flame resistant save when molting in which case their feathers are known to spontaneously combust.

Light - Light elementals are large and fluffy, often with warm personalities. As their name suggests, they are known to bring light to many things, including the darkness with their wings and the orbs that seem to float around their front legs. While some of the light elementals with brighter coats are prone to disliking the dark those with darker coats seem to enjoy the twinkle and shine of light at night.

Dark - Despite their appearances, the dark elemental Talaye are not evil, per say... Not all of them, at least. Most are, if anything, a little bit on the mischievous side, preferring to spend the hours between dawn and dusk either sleeping or lurking in shadows, coming out to play more often in the evenings. They enjoy shadows and mimicry, sometimes taking on features of other elementals while playing their games.

Hybrids

Not quite one element or another appearance-wise they may still gravitate towards the element of one of their parents in actions or they may combine them. An earth/dark mix might enjoy cave-dwelling life surrounded by various treasures of the earth or a fire/light may find itself even more fascinated to the light-tossing dance of flames.

If an elemental does not have all of the traits of it's base it is a hybrid and therefor lacks the strength and bonuses it would have as a full elemental. A list of what makes an elemental an elemental can be found here if there are any questions.

Hybrids are not available through customs. They are only available through breedings and events or the occasional bribe.

Pure Elementals

The original Elementals of Talaye, they are not a sub-species but something all their own. These Talaye embody their element, bringing it to life through various traits and features. Whereas there can be multiple of the elemental sub-species running around at any given time there may never be more than one of any type of Pure Elemental.

Evolved Tala are hard to come by, since an adult Tala must work very hard to achieve this final stage. Females and males have different evolved forms, but Talaye rarely change in mentality once evolved... they just look a little different. Evolved Tala can breed as many times as they'd like, so long as their mate is also evolved. All evolved Tala are mated for life, and it is not uncommon to have mated Tala evolve together.
5-6 feet tall.
Are capable of carrying 1 human in flight.

The phrase "love sees no gender" is in effect with Talaye, as pairs can be male/female, male/male, or female/female. Only Eros (Talaye of Romance) knows how the female/female and male/male breedings work... And he's not talking!

Things to know:

• Breedings will most often be announced although some may pop up by surprise for those who are paying attention. They may involve trivia, raffles or anything the staff cooks up at the time.
  
• Breeding costs 6000g total for pairs that have chosen to mate for life. x
  
• Breeding costs 8000g total if the Talaye are not life mated.
  
• Adult talaye may breed THREE times.
  
• You can't breed the same Talaye twice in a row, you'll have to wait until the next opportunity.
  
• Evolved Talaye may breed an infinite amount of times.

Breeding Elementals

• The Elemental Sub-Species can breed with Regulars or any other Elemental. The offspring will have the chance to have traits of each of their Elemental parents but unless both parents are of the same element it is unlikely any of the pups will be born as a true Elemental. Hybrids are generally much weaker in terms of powers than their parents.
  
  
• Pure Elementals, when bred together, will only produce one basket each breeding. The reasoning behind this is that the basket will be a new element on its own, something that is very rare. (ex. Water and Fire could produce Steam. Fire and Psychic could produce Pyrokinesis). We highly suggest that the owners of the parents give this basket to a friend rather than keeping it between themselves (you don't have to do this but Eros likes the love to be shared).

Breeding Minis

Minis are only able to breed with other Minis.

The Offspring

• Talaye in general can produce anywhere from 2-6 baskets. (activity in the thread, whether it be chatting or RPing will get you GREATER ODDS of more baskets. RPing/life mating is the most efficient way, though.)
  
• First time breedings usually produce only 2 baskets.
  
• Non-Life mates produce only 2 baskets.

If you wish to breed your Talaye you must first show interest between the two in the thread/in RP if you're looking to life-mate your pair. When both owners are ready to breed keep your eyes open for breeding raffles!
