How do you people yearly survive temperatures below 40? I wanted to die standing outside for only half an hour at work each day.

You move only when you have to. Our pipes froze in the kitchen for two days, that was interesting. At least they didn't burst and the hot water worked in the bathrooms. The extreme cold can kill your car battery, too. School was cancelled on those days when the windchill hit -40. There were frostbite warnings where five minutes in those conditions could cause severe damage.

Today was much warmer, so I put out bird seed for the squirrels and birds who hide in the neighbor's junipers.

For me in canadaland, even if snowing and blowing a shitstorm outside, nothing gets cancelled. I remember skipping classes because it was minus freezing death out and no class cancellations. rofl
