100kb is very hard to get transparent PNGs into- I'll say that much. .>< is why most siggy art ends up being under the 500x500 range cause its too big to keep in there otherwise.

I understand the logic, but I agree about filesize. Most -gifs- are huge these days.

I love making my own sigs using GIMP, but I've yet to use one because of how poor the images look after re-sizing. Plus, when you have an image that's say... 480x480...When you add text after the image, the image pushes the text under the 500x500 line! So even if you're well under the character limit for text, you can still get busted for having a signature that's bigger than 500x500! It irritates me. :/

yep. if I'm making something for a siggy, I tend to start with the 450x4500 as a max and go /down/ from there. I made the certs for LOS so tiny because it means you can get other banners and text into the same siggy with them.

I understand Gaia's desire for the limits a few years ago, back when 100kb slowed down loading a lot, but most people can load a 5mb webpage in a few seconds these days.
