A swift breeze swept across the park. The trees dances, the bushes rustled, the birds sang, and as it went, Ren's giggle lifted with it. The wind was throwing her hair in her face, blinding her vision of the rose bush in front of her. Ren had one flower in her hair, a clutch of various flowers in her hands. Seeing that sight before him reminded Aiden of who he was protecting her from. He wasn't about to let it stop now.
"Berserker, the last thing I wish is for you to start sending her presents and visiting her. My life is none of your concern. She is none of your concern. The questions it would bring up among both parties would spill it that I have a daughter, rewriting what I have set in place. Leave her alone. End of discussion." His voice was cold and biting. There was clear warning in his voice, but whether Berserker would listen Aiden didn't know.

Berserker listened to Aiden and grinned, "Fine fine. Geez your such a kill joy..." He said as the limo finally pulled up to his house, "Still if she ever needs little hands give a yell more than willing to part with some of my better behaved imps." he said as he looked out his window at the wave of the imps cleaning the lawn of the mansion and tending to the hedges and normal lawn work, "By the way That reminds me...don't use your sun screen in your side drawer...One of my...less compliant imps switched it with olive oil...I've sent a maid to fix the situation and given her a note to let her through to fix the situation. And I'll speak with the imp when he gets back." Berserker said as he looked at Aiden as he took hold of the shadow orb, get out of the limo, and walked up to his house, "...You know...It still bothers me...to this day...Kouki and Reine...I question...how do humans pull through stuff like this..."

A hulking being stood before the door of the house. He was eleven feet in height wearing the armor of a cursed paladin. Even the armor couldn't hide the muscles underneath that attest to how well trained and experienced his body is. Even more, this was a body that once fought Berserker. It was back in the day when Berserker wasn't exactly the nicest guy o the block. As a summon meant to fight evil, Essek had been called to do that very thing. Essek recalled that fight, and was ashamed to find himself defated, no matter how close it was.
He now stood in broad daylight before the same dreadlord. He was tucking his gauntlets behind his belt. Underneathe his gauntlets he had wrapped bandages(now worn and old) to avoid chafing and sliding. Only the bottom half of his fingers were wrapped, showing ash colored skin. To evil his skin would feel like white hot fire, as the same with his blade.
Glowing red pupils shined bright beneath the helm as Essek looked up to gaze at his opponent. "We meet again Berserker." He said as he drew his hand-and-a-half sword.

Berserker stopped as he heard the voice and gave a sigh, "Geez Even to this day your still alive." He said not forgetting a voice, "Essek...Could we do this another time I've had a rough day." He said before he saw him draw the sword and shook his head, "Guess not." Berserker said as he stood there the shadows around them already beginning to move and groan, "So How's life been treating you?" He said as his skin began cracking and falling off, "Cause as I can see you've changed only a bit." He said with a chuckle which caused the imp workers to look back before running off into the mansion, "Aiden I'll speak with you more later...Seems I have a guest I must attend to. Hope you understand..."

Essek studied his opponent with an expert eye. On the outside Berserker only changed with the passing of time, appearing to be a tall wealthy man sleeping under a fancy roof. However, Essek knew what was inside, the part of him that existed in the dark times where Berserker had lost himself. That part had changed greatly, so it seemed. The pleasantries certainly wasn't what he was expecting. The Berserker he knew wouldn't have been so polite. Unfortunately, Essek wasn't going to let his guard down simply because Berserker had been pleasant.
"Yes, Berserker, I live." He said in a deep, rumbling voice of remembrance. "You cannot kill a summon unless they are broken from the bonds of magic that bind them. Thus I will never change,--" Essek tapped the armor over his solar-plexus with an ash finger, "--except for the scar you left me here where you killed me." To this day he could still feel the sharp pain where Berserker stabbed him.
It had been raining then, a thunderstorm coming in from the north casting the land in murky darkness. Because of that the odds had been in Berserker's favor, but Essek could neither turn around nor go back. He past the point of no return the moment he was summoned. He knew this time around that ambush would be no good from the experience of being caught before the fight even began. Regardless of how intense the fight was, Essek still lost. In those last seconds when the blade had been removed, Essek thought he really was going to die. His blood was warm against the cold, and the numbness of loosing so much blood kept the pain away and sapped his sense of worry. He passed into the deep sleep that comes with being a summon, but he did not die.
Essek came back to reality because he remembered the bitterness of being denied death.
"I am here to finish the job, Berserker. I offer you one chance: Surrender."

His foot steps reverberated throughout the dark warehouse in monotone, creeping up the aisle and into all the corners and crevices like the foot steps of doom; and with each step you come to know that death is coming, your death, and there is no escaping. It's not so much as death that frightens you as it is Samuel, and right now he is on the prowl, hunting. Because for all his good looks there is no warmth in them. His bright yellow eyes are cruel and cold, shining even in the blackest of nights. That is what sends chills up your spine. How could anyone be so unfeeling, so devoid of human emotion.
It was just like old times, back when Samuel was Reine's Second in Command. They thought things had changed. They were wrong, and now Neve was paying the price. She was being hunted. Anybody who knew Neve knew that she'd fight back, she'd beat some sense in Samuel, but not this night. Neve had to protect her infant child, Samuel's infant child. She couldn't risk a fight hurting the baby.
The handicap of being unable to fight back had cost her.
Samuel gripped his dagger tight, Neve's blood squishing between his fingers and dripping off the blade. The other was tucked up his left sleeve in it's sheathe. Yes, these were the very daggers Samuel used back when he was child vampire. Now he was using them to finish the job.
"You can't hide from me in this foolish warehouse you call 'home' forever!" Samuel called out with finality, voice echoing.
-
Neve pressed her back deeper against the crates not but five feet down the aisle from Samuel. Her back was covered in blood, a long gash in her dress showed where Samuel's knife cut her. She had been hiding in a crevice like this very one when Samuel jumped her. There wasn't much space for maneuvering, plus with her back to the crate, there wasn't many choices. Baby clutched in her arms, Neve turned her back on Sam, and made a brake for it. His knife bit into her back, but she was able to escape... for now.
Neve was only now beginning to realize how deep that wound was. The knife cut open her right lung, several tendons, and muscle. Her vampirsm saved her, but it was too late, the damage had been done. A portion of blood filled her lung, making it hard to breathe, and cough up blood that was already dribbling down her lip and chin. This caused keeping quiet a burden in itself. To top it off the wound weakened her greatly. Perspiration beaded her brow and her breathe rattled in her lungs.
However, Neve saw a way to escape. Close by there was an exit, a door.
Neve cast her eyes down to the baby in her arms wrapped in a little blanket. Light from above lit up its tiny puckered face in sleep. A smile stole across her face. Even in these dire times it still gave her happiness just to look into those sleepy eyes. Strength seeped into her limps. No matter what Samuel did to her, the wounds he gave her, she would save the baby, then come back for him. Taking a deep breathe, she slipped away from the crate and towards the door.
-
Samuel was not oblivious. He had picked up her scent off the blood from her lips. Even that little bit of blood was enough. He knew her scent by memory alone. Her coughing didn't help, no matter how much she muffled it. Samuel had heard her, and knew where she was, he was merely waiting for her, playing with her. The moment she moved, he made his.
Neve was almost there! Quieter than a mouse she ran, crouched, through the aisles to the door. Just when retreat seemed possible, a pain shot up her left. Crying out in pain she collapsed. When she saw the cause of the pain, she began to feel fear; not for herself, but for her baby. Samuel's bloody dagger was impaled upon her ankle, through and through. Desperately she tried to crawl, get up, anything! Tears of frustration and desperation blurred her vision. Then Samuel was on her.
Sam would have watched her struggle a little more, but he wanted to put her out of her misery. He owed her that.
Samuel's foot caught her gut without mercy, tossing her from the door and tumbling away onto her back. Neve cried in pain, then fear when the baby tumbled from her arms out of reach. In one great wail the baby came awake and started crying. Before she could go to the baby, Sam's knee pressed into her abdomen where he kicked her and his left hand grabbed her throat. Most of her air ceased going through her windpipe.

"Got you." He said with a sadistic smile. Neve was repulsed by it, for it had no right being there on her Sammy.
There was no escape Neve knew.
"Sam. Don't do this to yourself." Said Neve in a strangled voice. "You can stop while your ahead-" Neve was cut off when Samuel closed her wind pipe. A smile more twisted and evil grew across his face, and real fear overcame her. It was as if Samuel had been eaten by a greater and more disturbing creature, leaving nothing of what she loved behind. Her eyes widened, and her face paled.
"Why would I stop? I love this. First my mother, now you, next my baby. So just die already." Samuel spoke as he withdrew the dagger up his left sleeve. When he was finished, the look of horror was still imprinted in his mind. Now she looked up with glazed eyes, that horror still there.
Without another word, Samuel left Neve there as if she were trash, and went to the baby. He gathered the bawling baby in a free arm and looked into it's face. Drawing the dagger back, Samuel's plunged.
-
Just then, Samuel woke up.
With a gasp he sat bolt up right in bed, throwing off the covers. Neve was lying right next to him, still covered in half the blanket. The cold struck him dead in the chest, but he barely noticed. In a panic he looked down at himself, his hands. No blood, no child, no weapon. Seeing her lying there, he fervently checked to see if she was alright. She was. It was just a dream.
Samuel let out a sigh of relief, but the fear and his dream was still potent inside him. It wouldn't have been new for Samuel to have nightmares, but this was new and vivid.
Because Samuel slept naked from the nights festivities, his legs were bare when he drew up to his chest. He placed his forehead against his knees, wrapped his arms around his legs, and cried silently. His greatest fear was that dream coming to past, and seeing it come to life in his dreams was not helping.

Berserker listened to Essek and sighed again, "Geez surrender...then what you remove my heart and it's all good to go. Essek you know better than that. Who would keep the others in check then?" he said holding out his hand to only have a shadow rise up and form his trusted sword, "I sadly can't surrender too many innocent would be lost Essek. Or are the ones on the other end of the leash blind to that?" He said with a grimace, "And your not the only one with scars." the Demonlord said as he slowly lifted his sword onto his shoulder, "Now if your going to swing by all means swing. I do believe Blaz is on his way home and if he sees me fighting on front lawn well...I think It'd end badly for both of us."

Essek listened to Berserker respectfully, but non of it mattered, Essek was duty bound to obey his summoners commands, and that was to kill Berserker. Thus, nothing they ever will say will change that which will bring about the inevitable fight.
Essek gripped his hand-and-a-half sword with deliberate calm. Any fear that he felt before disappeared at the coming of battle. All that pumped through his mind and veins now is adrenaline.
"That doesn't change anything, Berserker. You have to fight, or you will die by my hands. Now let us place talk aside and finish this." All of a sudden, Essek charged. Bringing his blade forth with a expert twist, he attacked with a horizontal swing, waist height.
The fight had begun.

Berserker sighed, "Well can't have that then." he said as he brought his blade up, using only one hand, to catch Essek's before it connected to his skin, "Not bad...still as fast as ever I see." He said as he brought his free hand up as the skin on his arm fully crumbled off and he sent a punch of full demon strength at Essek's cheek, "But You'll find I'm just as strong as ever." he knew if the punch connected it wouldn't be enough to kill Essek no the human was different. He was positive the puppeteers, as he thought of them being, wouldn't let their puppet be killed so easily as a punch. Meanwhile a man rode home on his bike whistling a tune he heard on the radio of his own bar.

The swishing sound of a blade filled the air of the otherwise empty room. The normal resident was gone, out playing like an idiot. Years ago her thoughts wouldn’t be so cynical and morbid but that was before when the world was a good place. Throw the blade it hit the wall and sink in a few centimeters. Eyes the color of freshly spilled blood glanced to the window. They quickly located the king before noticing the demon king as well. It would seem Aiden was meant to visit with Berserker. That would mean she would have to go away while they chatted. Elizabeth O’Riley had been off the map for five years now. Most people that would care were dead and those that weren’t dead thought she was dead or missing. Vincent, Berserker, Samuel, all of them didn’t know she was hiding in plain sight. It wasn't really hiding though, she just didn't want to deal with people from her past anymore. She enlisted herself with Aiden, he wasn't the monster he used to be which was almost sad. She had originally looked to side with him so she could be with the crazed tyrant. Now he mellow though, it was annoying but not that much of a deterrent. She would do whatever her king wanted of her, even if that might just be the job of a guard.
Standing up from her location on the bed Elizabeth grabbed the blade back out of the wall. There was a nice mark, Aiden could b***h about her ruining the walls if he wanted but she didn’t care. It was rare to find anything she cared about anymore.
She returned to twirling the blade in her fingers. Christopher, the love of her life, had died during the battle five years ago at the same time that Reine had. Shortly after the peace was settled there were people angry on both sides and some in fighting. It was one of those in fighting attacks that had dealt a devastating blow to the slayers and their second in command, Brendan O’Riley, along with his girlfriend were murdered in cold blood. Within two short months Elizabeth had lost her partner along with her best friend and her twin brother. The world was at peace but she wasn’t.
Elizabeth held no love for slayers or humans anymore. Though it wasn’t like the vampires had her love either, they were at least honest about the monsters that they were. With the death of all she loved she fell and fell hard. Who cared about keeping the monster in check, she certainly didn’t.
Sighing Elizabeth pocketed her blade back in its container before looking back out the window watching her king and the events unfolding out there.

Unlike the man laying next to her, Neve had no nightmares. What reason was there to have nightmares? Her life was nothing short of perfect. She had a loving and beautiful mate and he was amazing. The years getting to this point might have been heard but here they were. Their present was divine and their future looked bright. Things had become so amazing in such a short amount of time that Neve was close to giving up on finding the vampire that had killed her mother. Certainly her mother would want this, for her to be happy with this man that made her smile and love him eve more with each passing day.
Despite it being five years since they started being together Neve still felt very much like a honeymooner. He never stopped being the best possible person for her. As the bed shifted Neve groaned and rolled onto her side trying to cuddle up with the lack of warmth that Sam had created. Finding that his warm body wasn’t where it should be Neve groaned once more upset that she had to wake up. She rolled onto her back and opened while ice blue eye to find her mate. As soon as she located him though she was bolt up right and at her side.
Her thin arms wrapped themselves around his body and she placed a few soft kisses along his arms. “What’s wrong, my love?” she asked him with a hint of worry in her tone. She wanted to be sleepy and just kiss him till he felt better but right now it looked like he was truly upset. It would seem he was still having those awful nightmares. Oh how she wished she could just take away all of it and make him as happy and sure of himself as she was.
