For years a huge war has been waged between the Radfords and the Cleganes. The both familys needing something from the other but neither able to come to an agreement so they fought, lots of lives lost. The Cleganes to the north own the largest gold mines in the world, and also the largest coal pit, while to the south the Radcliffs have the greatest soils for farming and water.
Both sides need what the other has to survive but for years they where unable to come to a suitable arrangement so they fought for years. One day after years of turmoil and hatred and there kingdoms threatened to be destroyed an idea was brought to both kings, by there wives, the queen. the idea was great in there eyes and when brought to the other family and there people they agreed, but not all agreed.
You see the idea was to marry the children of both familys, that way the fighting would stop and the familys would be able to share there resources with each other with out problem and there familys would be stronger if ever the need to fight again, the children of each family where less than impressed but some have learnt to deal with it. The kings and queens and princes, and princess of both sides are going to be living in the same kingdom once used as a summer home many years ago by the former Clegane king, they will be there til all the children are wed starting with the eldest two after which they will go to there new homes to live there new lives.
