Anyway, could I get a critique? Story is a young priest/acolyte type who dreams about flying.

Its not the most original idea but its not an average way of going about things.

Now onto the Critique:

Because you have stated you wanted to have "young priest/acolyte type" it's in need of a robe. Most priests are always accompanied by a robe and as is its really hard to differentiate your avatar from a stereotypical adventurer without one.

Now onto the "dreams about flying" aspect. With what you have it is easy to see that he dreams about flying with the usage of the birds and the face. I will also commend you for the use of a high situated background as it amplifies the importance of "flying." However a symbolic note that most people can forget is the ears. With it covered while be it a small detail actually kinda takes away from the "wanting to fly aspect." Hear me out before any words are thrown. When people want to do something they want to experience all the sensations of something. He is located in a high area which is similar to the realm of birds. Wouldn't he want to take part of the sound aspect of being in a high location?

As always this is mostly food for thought when it comes to your avatar.
