I like them both, though I love to see more of Harvest Moon.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Witchly color scheme. I'd really love to see more of it. emotion_bigheart
Moon Harvest sure is pretty though.

Enduring Gaian

Yeah this Potpourri scheme is really not for me sweatdrop Although it looks okay on the items. Maybe part of the problem is that it is just my experience with potpourri at all in my life. The potpourri we had in my home growing up was always much more vivid.

On the flipside, lack of pop in the scheme means it probably blends well with others.

It's nice to see that as per the name of the scheme, the Gaia made items in potpourri have (mostly) been stuck on more garden/floral items. I agree with Baada, though, potpourri makes me think of deep, rich colors, and I"m not a fan of swampberry anyways, so these items don't appeal to me at all.

i wonder if the unnamed scheme really is just potpourri, because there aren't any other tags in the gaia made items to suggest a scheme name.

I'd like to see what I could do with dusky rose or even dusty rose and get away from the swampberry and monochrome.

Aquatic Abomination

Have to agree with everyone else so far: when I think potpourri, I think of either really vivid shades or really dark shades. This is somewhere in between. Still, it's a pretty scheme. I like it better with midori than swampberry but I'm just not a huge swampberry fan in general. And when it comes to Gaia's potpourri vs. the usermade potpourri... I have to go with Gaia's. The other one is nice enough (it almost looks like a duskier version of the marshmallow scheme's pink), but it's a little too faded or muted for my liking. Not bad, just not something for me.

The general floral/gardening/nature theme is fitting. And, hey, there's more than one token male item! emotion_brofist Yes. All the love for this color scheme for that reason alone.

All said and done, I'd like to see more of this scheme. Potpourri is kind of fall-ish. Maybe. You know, dried leaves and flowers. I don't know. It made sense until I typed it out. I just like pretty, flowing, floral-y type items. This fits that bill.

I saw it in the guide, but the old scheme peony (bottom of the post) is a nice semi-match for Gaia's potpourri. It's a little less shaded, almost blurrier but, then again, it was from a different, I guess, era. Still, they work pretty well together. And because I didn't have enough of any of these schemes in my inventory (and all my funds are going to a future giveaway), I cheated used the avatar builder to make an avatar for this week:

Not my favorite scheme by far. There just aren't many options for it and I feel very limited. It also doesn't have much POP and that's not to say it has to have bright colors but of the colors used they just aren't very vibrant. This was my best attempt.

I owe some replies and quotes, but I'm at least checking in for this showcase!

Potpourri, gaiamade, is a little awkward to me. I can extol swampberry and midori greens all day and night, and offchrome is always good too...but I've never had the greatest opinion of this pinkish color. It's present in some old peony items, but the first item I ever saw it on was:
User Image
The Rose of Versailles. And boy, did everyone want this item when it first came out, though I think that was because it was fancy, and not because of the color. I think Dusky Rose might have evolved from this item, I'm not sure.
Anyway, I think to have a firm opinion on this scheme, I would need to see it more. I don't have an opinion on the usermade scheme either, but I rarely make opinions of colors before I see them in clothing. Hair just doesn't prove a scheme's usefulness to me.

Because of the LC item in Potpourri, I'm definitely willing to see more, but it's not something I would wear a lot, mostly because it's so close to swampberry. To the point I could mistake it as swampberry in a complicated avatar (my eyes are drawn to green over red/pink).

These are two of the kinds of pink I avoid, so I do not favour either of these schemes.

On the other hand, I belive that diversity makes Gaia stronger. Not every scheme needs to be my personal favourite.

This post is about Moon Harvest, playing catchup.

Princess Kunzite
Actually, the real creator of Moon Harvest is Shiro Nishida; if I recall somewhat correctly, it started out with discussion of what colors can work with Creamsicle and this is one of the results. Then it was submitted in an assortment of hairs, starting with the Discordant Floofie Bangs. >w< Timid has been a staunch support of the scheme, however!

Ah, thank you. I might never have known. I should have looked at item dates, now that I think about it, but the item I owned had a few names listed in the tag's and Timid's was one of them, meaning she was a fine person to ask for information. You just beat her to it, and then later Shiro showed up. I'm pleased my comment/question was answered thoroughly. I never would have guess vocaloid figurines. ~

timidpandora
I'm not the creator, my friend Shiro Nishida is ^_^ I'm just a hardcore supporter of it

I'm also currently saving for a stylist with a moon Harvest option and I'm part of a collab that has a Moon Harvest option that's waiting on acceptance and a Silver Scissors ticket with it too ninja

Is it the scheme you support the most? If so, why? To support it so much makes you pretty qualified to talk about it, I think.
Ah, any chance we can see the mocks? You don't have to spoil all the colors, but I'd like to see just the Moon Harvest parts, if that's possible.

Shiro Nishida
Yes! Hi! Hello! timidpandora alerted me this week this thread was hosting Moon Harvest and I have to say I'm surprised at the reception so far. Many thanks :'3

As for the history of how it came to be, during one of my many searches online to come up with color schemes (around a few weeks after I wanted to submit things in "Quetzalcoatl" wink I came across a picture of Nendoroids that was utterly adorable and wanted to buyt hem... but what really interested me was the colors used on one of the dresses.

picture is inside the spoiler tag below

If you look at the character on the right, that's where the original concept came from. a few weeks went by testing colors with various shades of gray which i wasn't pleased with until I came upon a particular hair item from user "succubutt" called Succubutt's Delight with it's last two poses having a big impact with me.

The poses names are "Pastel Violet" and "Calabash" but as you can see, the "Pastel Violet" is more of a "Pastel Gray" that isn't Concrete per se. Calabash, obviously, is Creamsicle.

From there, I showed a few people, and since they enjoyed it, I decided to make it a pose on the "Discordant Dragon Guardian Locks" closely followed by the "Discordant Floofie Bangs" and from there, a few people have featured it on their recolors, like user I Flavour of Life I in "C's Dainty Whimsical tresses" or Nurse Lunabutt's collab project (including Levi Ackerman, Cutesi, I Noticed You and Twinkles The Kat) "Kitty Braids"

timidpandora and Pedrique are two of the people who have also taken major interest in this particular scheme and although timid does have lots of projects upcoming, I have had to put plans of making items in this color on hold to collab on other things. I have not given up on this recolor since I do believe that it has lots of potential: in that it can be used to accentuate other color combinations and create even more cohesion among the current set of color schemes available.

Who knows. maybe an actual "proper" Moon Harvest item or two isn't too far in the horizon. ninja

Even so, if Gaia does pick this up, I'd be more than pleased. They kind of did with their Goldfish scheme which came out roughly two weeks after the first two items I linked earlier came out which was a happy coincidence, but again, I do hope to bring more of this recolor as soon as possible to Gaia. how soon, time will tell. 3nodding

This is the post I needed and called for, thank you very much. You neatly go over roots, process, timeline, naming convention, and references. Thank you for sharing the cute little Rin/Len pictures, the links, and naturally the scheme. It really does help weave together pre-existing schemes and I hope Gaia adopts it.
Hints/mocks for 'proper' Moon Harvest items? Please tell me transparency is involved.

I need to look back and see your complaints about swampberry, since I personally don't understand.
More than one token male item; this comment made me smile a bit, even if the situation male avatars have is a rather sad one.
Thank you very much for the peony tip, that helped quite a bit in assembling my avatar this week.
Really...your current avatar is priceless. Defeated Cat. Aquarium boss-battle. Just seeing it completely derailed my brain from this discussion.

I honestly don't remember if I complained too much about swampberry. It's just not my favorite shade of green. I'm glad others like it and I want to see more of it for their sake. (Although that really applies to all schemes.) It's just not a color that I, personally, will ever use much of. Maybe as an accent. Not as a main color.

And thanks! I thought it was pretty funny. I really like yours, too. That small bit of yellow from the lovebirds item (and the gold bits) is a nice touch. It adds a fun pop.

This is part of the collab; it hasn't been accepted yet, but eventually it will. >w<

And while not the hair Timid is talking about, the two of us do have our own SS in as well, and it had been discussed about potentially making Moon Harvest as part of the potential free recolor (if we sell out, of course) or in a collab again for an RT or BL:

Although however the streaks ends up being is up to Gaia. I basically only mocked it as an idea. Since our first pose will have streaks, any recolored version of it can have streaks, so it's up to Timid when that time comes to decide which version she'd want. xd

I can understand relegating it to an accent, more like woodlands, though I love it too much to limit it's use. I also need more verdant greens in my life, but alas, it hasn't happened yet.
It's quite funny, thank you for the giggle. Likewise, thank you for the complements! I couldn't help but add them, as a scene started unfolding and I needed the balance. I know the peony of the hair is a bit more saturated then what I'm supposed to have, but I was at least able to tone the skirt down some with a jellyfrills.

I need to have a talk with Chocobo about Jellyfrills. It adds a lot of texture to shirts especially, and I could see her having more options for the torso by layering jellyfrills to give that busy, non-flat look she loves. Actually...
Chocobo Princess

Ne, ne. I finally remembered to tell you something. Not sure it actually helps, but I've been looking for ways to help broaden the colors/items you can use, without sacrificing the look you prefer. You said you felt left out sometimes, and had trouble finding items that gave texture. Slapping jellyfrills torso pose onto some shirts can make them look more detailed.

Ffffffffffff. I'm going to need both things. Goshdarnit. Your mocks are pretty, and I'm pleased with the idea itself.
I would definitely get a copy of this if it came out. I remember how popular the Aeris hair was (FF7 reference item, can't remember it's name), and every butterfly item has been madly popular, so I could see this fusion of the two concepts selling out. No matter what colors you picked, and despite some people's aversion to streaks. The bangs in particular are important to me, because I'm always looking for hair items that give little tufts around the face (like bea, since bea hasn't been keeping up with the new schemes). The bangs are a bit...marionette like, now that I think about it. And that was another hugely popular hair item.

Thanks for showing me. That made me smile. I really like Moon Harvest. Enough that I was thinking of pulling out photoshop today, and putting it onto some horns. I need to practice, but just haven't found time to set up.
