Welcome to our art and fanfiction contest! This contest is being held to pool the resources of our many guardians into a giant contest from which our joint communities may benefit. All characters involved in this contest are a part of two Breedables/Changeables shops named Forgotten Documents and the Legends.
We are two communities brought together by intertwining storylines and for the our love we have for our characters. As a treat for the hard work and dedication to the Forgotten Documents [hereafter referred to as the Feedee] and Legends, I, along with the help of the shops's artists, have organized this contest as a way to treat our guardians and show them our appreciation. They too have contributed largely to this contest in the ways of funds, detailed character profiles, and advertising! So thanks to everyone, this contest is able to reign stronger than ever dreamed~!

An extension has been made to the contest's end date. It now ends April 1st [ehehe..]. The reasoning behind this is that we have recently added more characters and more categories, and want to see that everyone has a fair shot and plenty of time to do it in. Also, the previous end date was growing more and more inconvenient for many disclosable reasons.
Anywho! Please enjoy this extension - no other will be made! Guardians, continue your enthusiasm, advertising, and support, and hopefully you will be rewarded with art and fanfics from entriants and each other alike, <3.

The Gaian TOS applies to this contest. Entries should be PG-13.
All entries must be original pieces. Do not enter stolen, traced, or copied artwork or fanfiction. Art/fic theft is looked down upon in all aspects; using references is fine, but we shouldn't be able to tell that you copied from a photo, for example.
You must meet the deadlines for your entry to be counted in the judging process. Works in Progress can be submitted at any time, but for them to be counted during judging, they must be completed and reposted within a week of the end date.
You may enter as many times as you'd like. In fact, it is encouraged! Each entry is only eligible to recieve one prize, [for example, 'Best Male' cannot also win 'Best Forgotten'] but an artist may win multiple times if they have submitted more than one piece of art/fanfiction.
Be respectful and courteous. No flaming, gloating, whining, guilt-tripping, or anything else that would reflect on you negatively. If there is a conflict, please take it outside of the thread into PMs or some sort of instant messenger.
Any and all styles and media are accepted! We don't look up or down upon any certain style or medium, and won't limit you on how your entry can be produced. From chibis to realism, traditional to CG, we love just about everything and anything.
Daemons should be drawn with their Forgotten. This is a storyline thing - Forgotten Documents are split souls, one represented as a person and the other as their daemon, an animal whose form varies greatly from case to case. If you cannot draw certain animals, you can leave out the daemon or you can choose someone else to draw, but please remember that daemons and Forgotten are equals.
Fanfictions should be well researched. As hilarious as Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus are, they have the potential to break brains and won't win you anything in this contest. Please stick to Forgotten Documents and Legends, and, if needed, guardians. Keep in mind personalities, relationships, speech patterns, and powers when writing our characters.
A minimum of 85 entries [at least 82 artwork entries, 3 fanfics] OR two piece of artwork per character, whichever comes first, is required by the conclusion of this contest. In order to properly and fairly judge this contest, we need at least one entry per prize. In the event that the contest does not reach this goal, it may be extended if interest is still lively. Please understand that we have put a lot of our time, effort, and Gaia gold and items into this contest, so it's only fair to assume we'll get something out of it. We can extend at any time for reason of not yet satisfied with the number of entries for the amount paid out.
Rules can be changed, modified, and added to at any time.

Think [Esmarelda] style for clothing if you want to have fun.

Daemon!SWITCH: Ever wondered what the FeeDee daemons would look like in a more humanoid form? So do we! The overall point of this category is to turn the FD's daemon into a human, and the FD kid into some sort of daemon. What sort of animal/creature would the kids turn into? What sort of (scary) people would the daemons turn into? This category is mostly for FeeDee since it involves daemons, but this could readily apply to any Legends that have familiars, as well.

As you might have noticed, our entry form has a section for referrals. In addition to the art and fiction catagories, we're hosting a referral contest for those who may or may not be able to enter the contest for one reason or another.
What this entails is that you advertise for us! Whether you round up all your artist and writer friends and urge them to enter the contest, or you put one of our banners in your sig, you are elligible to win the referral contest prizes! All that is required is your name appearing more than anyone else's on entry forms. The person with the most referrals will win the grand prize, while those with significant contributions will also be rewarded.
The grand prize is a Jacked Up Shirt worth 1.5 million gold! Secondary prizes are fanfics by some of guardians.

Q: Can I enter more than once?
A: Yes!! Feel free to enter as many times over the course of the contest as you wish, until your hand falls off or you've simply exhausted your options, hahaha.
Q:Can I win more than once? What about with the same entry?
A: If you enter multiple works of art, there is a change you may win multiple times, but not with the same entry. Once an entry wins one prize, it cannot win another. It is possible for an artist to win multiple times, but the chances will be slim that this will happen.
Q: Who will be judging?
A: A good jury of guardians from both shops! (:
Q: What does Feedee mean?
A: Feedee is the short form for Forgotten Documents. You see, Phoo is a silly shop owner; when the shop was new, people shortened the name to FD. Every time Phoo read FD, Phoo found Phoo's self saying Feedee instead of Eff Dee. And thus, Phoo ran around enforcing the use of Feedee instead of Eff Dee, particularly to rid the thread of the grammatically incorrect use of "an" in front of FD. Tadah! And thus you shall forever shorten the name Forgotten Documents to Feedee, or Phoo will confiscate your ankles and wrists.
Q: Do I have to host my own entries?
A: Yes please! If you do not have your own webspace, please use imageshack.us, deviantart.com, uploadimages.net, or photobucket.com to host your entry. Should your entry's link change during the contest, please notify us; dead links are of no use to us and won't win you any prizes.
Q: How long will judging take?A: That depends! Y'all might wow us into a stupor with the sheer amount of entries, or by the talent displayed! We'll try not to draw out the process TOO long, but I'm known to create a little evil teasing trouble with these sorts of things, ehehe..
Q: Can I enter more than one category with the same entry?
A: Sure! Just remember that it cannot win multiple categories, but it will be considered for all you deem applicable.
Q: What's more important for judging: Technical skill or creativity?
A: Tough one! Anyone can take a character design and regurgitate it in their own style, whether or not that style is juvenile or a masterpiece. But it requires a great deal of skill to take our characters's profiles and create a piece that captures our characters so perfectly and is so imaginative that we are wowed by it. A good blend of skill and creativity goes a long way, but please, don't be concerned with how well you think it suits the contest; we love any and all submissions!
Q: If Toasty went up against a toaster, who would win?
A: That toaster's a mean one! But since Toasty has wings and a toaster has a plug, I'm going to put my faith in Toasty, <3.
Q: Is there an entry fee?
A: Nope. Your artwork is enough of a gift~!
Q: Is mixing Feedee and Legend characters okay?
A: Of course! It's encouraged that you do!
Q: Are we supposed to be drawing the characters in relation to their relative stories?
A: It would be nice if you did, but we don't expect you to have the patience to read through our journals and catch up on storylines - unless you really want to and are genuinely interested! Please remember to keep the character in character; refrain from looking at reference pictures and deriving your own interpretation soley from that. Spiffy portraits are just as coveted as dynamic scene drawings.
Q: It's been awhile since I submitted my entry, and it still hasn't been listed. How long should I wait/what should I do?
A: Oh no! We must have missed it! Please send me, quietsnooze, a PM so that I can fix this asap.
Q: Can the same piece of art win in a specific character's category, and in general?
A: Individual categories are judged by the person or persons who funded it. The main panel of judges may discuss with those people if conflicts arise, but it may be possible for this to happen. We will try to avoid it, however, because we want to reward as many people as possible, even if the work of art is simply amazing.
Q: Are collaborations allowed?
A: Yep! However, we take no responsibility in splitting any and all prize winnings, should your collaborated entry win.
Q: I hate drawing babies/children! May characters be drawn at any age?
A: Yes! We encourage that you do! Please keep in mind any and all suggestions guardians have provided in character profiles and journals, and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Q: How do I know who to draw?/Where can I find your characters?/Do I just draw anyone from the shop threads?
A: Character profiles can be found on the second page of this thread. Please please please only draw those characters. Any and all references can be found on the second page of this thread.
