Teagan looked over at Lamia for a second, then turned away to watch the fire in the distance. Strange girl she was- she didn't seem very comfortable at all in here, which was unexpected.
I'd think of any place to sit and relax she'd choose here. This is the darkest quietest restaurant there is, right in the center of Cerxes anyway.
"For the simple minded tattoos are just intimidating... Teagan piped in smugly. "But for those who think for themselves, a tattoo shows loyalty and commitment to something. I think some of the locals here are alarmed not because of your appearance, but because they can't decipher who or what you're loyal to. Can you blame them though? We're in a city of five nations, and some are pitted against all others. I'd dare say some nations are pitted against themselves at this point." She tried to read Lamia's face for a clue. For now she seemed calm.
"I've had the overwhelming impression, from the moment I came here, that everyone wants you to join a side, and join it fast. Ignorance and apathy are poisons here." She grinned to herself. It was entertaining to give hints about her life to those that most likely would never catch on.
Teagan sighed and returned her gaze back to Ja'tel. There was certainly something about him that was different. And she'd be damned if she didn't find out what it was, before the night was over.
