By the way, I've decided I won't participate in the contest, BUT I will answer a few questions for the fun. XD I don't think I can keep up with it, with the RP (plus judging... wink ).

Aye. Here as well. Work is as work does.

Indeed, as a judge, it isn't fair for me to participate for prizes. However many answers I rack up don't count.

Ditto. XD

| Miehrru Pouncing Phantom |

User ImageMiehrru’s giggles ended in a soft purr. “Miehrru does not ask if you think Miehrru’s your friend, you already said so. Miehrru wants to know who her new friend is,” she smiled, curiosity playing across her words.

At the appropriate places in white-haired-tiefling’s story she nodded that she had heard of devils and demons. Miehrru’s eyes grew wide as she whispered, “forever?” almost as long as her clan and friends had been at war with the goblins.

“Mercenary,” Miehrru hissed. She had heard of those and she didn’t see how anyone could fight for money. She fought to protect those she loved, and to a lesser extent for status; her people respected brave warriors.

Miehrru nodded her approval at the comment about goblins, but she had been taught that demons and devils were worse so she wondered momentarily at the comment before she decided that it was a comment meant for the story, not necessarily a reflection on truth. Ebony did that sometimes too. It was supposed to help the story make sense.

Miehrru’s head bobbed up and down appreciatively, “Miehrru thinks her new friend is maybe as good a story weaver as Ebony.” Miehrru had finished off her supper and was working on her third glass of water. Having let the question about her new friend’s name sit unanswered for the story Miehrru asked again “Friend who?”

((Her comments during the story are not meant as interruption, but she’s very expressive so... I’m also guessing Dev’s going to be watching her reactions closely.))

Jenannen generated a random number between 1 and 100 ... 33!

| Miehrru Pouncing Phantom |

Miehrru cocked her head to the side considering both the question and the one who had posed it. “Whose side is Miehrru taking? Miehrru doesn’t know anything about these factions.”

Listening carefully to the woman’s explanation of the situation and the factions Miehrru replied excitedly, “Miehrru’s loyalties are to her clan and to her friends. So Miehrru supposes she’d be on the side of whoever is her friend.”

The woman sighed. “I’m asking which solution you like best as to how they treat outsiders like yourself.”

Miehrru looked at the woman funny “You mean they want to do those things to Miehrru?!”

The woman nodded hoping the young cat-girl had finally understood the question.

“Miehrru does NOT want to be a slave!” she replied emphatically. “And not getting to do things just because Miehrru’s not from here sounds too much like not getting to do things because Miehrru’s “too young,” she said, her lip curled towards a snarl. “Not that one either.”

Miehrru was distracted by the card in the woman’s hand and she watched it move through her fingers. Noting this, the woman tucked away her card and said, “That still leaves three others.”

Miehrru refocused her attention on the woman, “Mmr,” she thought aloud, “Miehrru doesn’t want to die again, and Miehrru doesn’t want to be lumped in with everyone else.”

“You side with the Machina then?” the woman asked.

“Only if, as they say, they can find Miehrru’s value,” she bounded off bored of the conversation.

Apparently, what happens when you step into the kitchen to help the cook lift the next day's roast into the oven is that you get ******** teleported to some godforsaken dark chamber with a glowing pot. And you still smell like bacon grease.

He cracked his knuckles and narrowed his eagle-sharp eyes, attempting to determine who summoned him. He hadn't given out that many feathers to his recollection.

He heard a voice - female, familiar. "Tell me, what do you desire most in the world?"

He recognized her : that white-haired, amazonian woman from the bar! Unfortunately, he wasn't about to blab out the gods'-honest truth when he couldn't see anyone's faces clear enough.

"What I desire most, milady, is your love, your soft adoration warm and feminine like the petals of cherry blossom in spring..."

"At least, that sounds like a pretty good answer," he scoffed. "What do i desire in the world of the dead? That's simple - complete, physical, form! No scars, no burns, and certainly no more rotting, black liquids leaking out of me. Or what did I desire in the world of the living? Well, that's a lot like the original answer - we'll generalize and say I wanted the love of a beautiful princess. But a lot of times, wants give way to needs - like needs to save your people."

He clicked his tongue against his teeth, "Next question."

---

He turned, and heard another voice - completely unfamiliar this time - ask, "Freedom in general is hard to obtain and very easy to lose. What things have you struggled with to obtain your freedom?"

"Free?" he scoffed. "I haven't been free to my knowledge. Ever. I live my life in constant mercy to my employers. Ever heard the word, 'contract'? I lived under a blood oath, died to be free, and once again live under a blood oath."

He laughed, "Now, that sounds horribly morbid - the obstacle I had to overcome to be free was my unwillingness to off myself!"

---

He saw a flurry of magic and immediately knew there was at least one person he could - probably - count on here.

"Seist! My good man, riddle me this.... I know you are quite accustomed to the respect - and the power - your occupation brings you. If the only way to earn your powers was to join an order of people shunned by the rest of the world, would you do it?"

Fortress Cerxes - the Court of Balance

Centered above the proximal apex of the nations, this floating Fortress is the long standing structure which houses the balance of each of the major nations' governments. The area is a common ground for leaders to meet and discuss issues with diplomacy. Seats at Court are granted by the nations' leaders in strict accordance with the laws of Cerxes, and members keep peace in mind while negotiating the needs of their nations.

Lady Cerxes watches over the proceedings as the first outsider in Serendipity. The Lady is largely a mystery as little is known about her...

Okay, I want to see if I'm understanding this right. I'm picturing that each nation has their own government, but that there is a larger governing body (the council) for the whole of Serendipity and/or Cerxes.

If that's correct then are the laws of each nation dominant in that nation's territory, or are those laws superseded by the laws of the council/Serendipty/Cerxes?

I'm trying to getting a better picture for how and why the council is now conviened to discuss the matter of the outsiders and how it's outcome will effect each of the nations and Serendipty/Cerxes as a whole.

Avery's making things complicated for his answer to Variable. rolleyes
In D&D terms I'm guessing discovering the government system here would have a low difficulty level. I mean in the US I think it would be easy to find someone who could tell you the states each have their own government but that as a whole we're subject to the federal government.

Is it like that on Serendipity or are these governments all seperate and the council is conviended for the commons?

I hope I'm making sense.

Okay, daycare makes sense for invoices.

Though there are daycares here that have children older than 5.
Those daycares also make sure that children are picked up from school.
and in the case of like afternoon kindergarten are also dropped off.

QUESTIONS ASKED SO FAR:

Luna_et_Noctis
“If you had to choose between taking care of your greatest enemy for the rest of their natural lifespan, or knowing that your chiefest goal would never be realized, which would you pick, and why?”

LadyMatrona
“So here’s a question for you. You look like a tough, strong guy. What if you suddenly weren’t? Suppose you are now an old man. And old man in a wheel chair. And your new home is at the top of this really tall hill. You have to get there somehow, but there’s no one around who will help you. Play this out for me. How would you do it? Remember, you’re old and feeble now.”

Finoewae
"Suppose your true love and your mother were both going to die, and you could only save one. Who do you save?"

LadyMatrona
"Do you have a 'true love'? Well what if he died? What if he died and you found out that he has some secret stash of tons of money. Yeah. And in his will, he said that the money was all for his girlfriend. But when they read the name of his girlfriend, it wasn’t you?”

Jalil
"Tell me, child. If you had to choose between having everything you wanted but hurting anyone you loved OR having everyone you love but nothing you ever wanted, which would you choose?"

LadyMatrona
"But enough about me, what about you, ‘child’?” What I mean is, what if you where the child? What if you were a kid again? And you where here? You'd be freaking out I bet."

LadyMatrona
"I bet you'd be really good in the circus." she said, pretending to sound genuine. "What would you do there if you where in a circus group? What would be your job?"

LadyMatrona
"You know... where people do tricks and stuff to entertain people. don't you have any tricks? What's the coolest thing you can do?"

Jalil
"Perhaps you will answer an age old question for me, my dear. Is it indeed better to love someone completely knowing you will lose them? Or to simply not love at all?"

Jalil
She turned to another figure in the gloom and asked, "Tell me, what do you desire most in the world?"

Kiddo Seanchain
"So... which is better? To live free but in constant peril, or to live secure but without freedom?"

Ruujin
"Freedom in general is hard to obtain and very easy to lose. What things have you struggled with to obtain your freedom?"

WoefulInfinity
"If the only way to earn your powers was to join an order of people shunned by the rest of the world, would you do it?"

Finoewae
"Here is a question for you. If I said I wanted your body now, would you hold it against me?"

LadyFox
"If you could erase just one past mistake, what would it be and why?"

Ruujin
By the way, some say it is better to receive gifts then to get them. If you had the means to give everyone you cared about a gift or buy yourself the one thing your heart desires, which would you choose?

Finoewae
"My question for you is simple. Do you view me as your equal, or as a lesser being than yourself?"

WoefulInfinity
"Ever enter a deal you wish you could have gotten out of?"

Jalil
"Would you kill the one person you loved or cared for the most in order to save the many? Why or why not?"

Seist smiled at Rivek, but there was no warmth in it. He had heard snippets of the man's answers and found them... curious, to say the least. He put it from his mind quickly, not wanting to dwell on those answers, for the last thing he needed right now was more trouble. Ignorance would serve him well in this matter.

"Of course," he replied, "My duty to my god and goddess is aided by my wealth and prestige, of course, but it is not necessary. And besides - there is a freedom and power of its own to be shunned. The people we shun are able to act outside the confines of society and law and we revile and fear them for it. It is a different sort of prestige. A different sort of influence. Just as powerful in accomplishing my goals."

The priest lazily turned his gaze on the vat in the middle of the room.

"Now," he murmured, "Since I am not ready to ask yet more questions of my companions... I shall ask this instead. Be this device sentient or merely a construct programmed for this task? In other words-" and he placed his hand on the glass "-do you respond to questions?"

((Since I need to wait for an answer to my last question before asking a new one... I'll stir up trouble instead. Seist is good at that. He questions everything he doesn't understand))
Kiddo Seanchain
As soon as the man laid his hand on the glass surface, a slip of paper swirled over to the glass.

Yes was all that was written upon it
