WoefulInfinity
Lurp looked longingly at the clean, fresh tissue that had replaced his scars.
When Rivek stood up to go she nodded. "Be careful, I didn't hear anything when I listened for news or pursuit, but things could still be a bit hot." And then Rivek thanked her and she didn't know what to say. "You're welcome" seemed so inadequate, and so wrong. So instead she tried to play it off lightly "Thank you for not running away when I did."
Rivek put his hand on her shoulder and this time Lurp didn't freak, but briefly covered it with her own. She smiled again "Maybe we should just throw caution to the wind at this point and be full out 'friends'"
She rose too then. "Let me go out first, make sure there's no one around." Then before he could answer, she was a brown and grey mutt, racing for the alley mouth. The dog paused, looked both ways, scented the air, then turned back to look at Rivek and nodded. When it was sure Rivek had seen it, the dog ran off and disappeared into the night.
((LOL Lurp is not so good at emotional moments. Wish I could hide MY embarrassment by turning into a dog, man. Now THAT would be convenient.))
