I also had a question.

You're character's 'biggest unrealized dream/goal' ....what does that mean exactly? sweatdrop
The 'unrealized' throws me off a little....

I think they mean a dream or goal that the character hasn't accomplished yet, but wants to.
Ahhhh....thank you! So sorry I am slow. orz

lol it's fine. On any other day I would have read it wrong and been confused as well. xD

So it isn't something the character will eventually realize is incredibly important to them?

Rivek's name was becoming synonymous with alcohol. He wiped down the counter with a damp rag - wet from rum as well as water. "Welcome to Dead Man's Meet, gents. What can I do you for?"

After the explosion at WorldSpanner's, Rivek, Seist, and Lurp had found another waterfront inn at the Axle of Commerce to hunker down in. While the other two were off doing their own business, Rivek's years of wanton drinking had paid off. He now had a few shifts as a junior bartender at the Dead Man's Meet whose previous server had perished in the blast. His apron still said, "Charlie."

When not serving drinks, Rivek would go back to the remains of WorldSpanner's. The dead didn't need their possessions. Most searches only turned up empty pockets, be he wasn't there for money. The progressive runs had unearthed a few potentially valuable treasures: a compass, a pistol with two rounds, a syringe with a vial of painkiller, a couple poker chips, knives, and a few forms of identification.

In fact, he was already making a good return on a card deck, he found. He shuffled with unnecessary bravado, "Come one, come all! A quick game of blackjack: beat the house, and your drink's on me!"

A few hopeful drunks crowded around him with starting bets as he dealt out the cards. "Ante up and double down!"

Rivek wasn't an expert card shark, but his quick hands easily outmatched their sodden minds. Bust. Bust. Bust. Bust. "So, so sorry, folks. Better luck next time."

He swept the coins behind the table and poured each customer a shot of rum. He put the cost of each glass into the register - and then pocketed the extra for himself.

From his vantage point, he could see two women talking in the corner. From the way they were dressed - clearly, Outsiders. Things might be getting interesting again.

Rivek is the bartender at the new inn. Helle and Teagan are talking while eating there. Lamia and Shun are at the old inn turned morgue.

Eloquent Raider

BOOOOOOOOOOORED.

Shirtless Heckler

((I think I'll have Seist stick close to the inn for now))

For the first time in his life, Seist's title and bloodline wasn't opening doors. The priest had adjusted to this fact, albeit reluctantly. Had it really been so different in the Free Cities? Or the Borderlands? For the former, the citizens almost prided themselves on rejecting bloodline and money was all that talked. For the latter, nobility only meant power if one had the swordmanship to back it up. Still, it meant he had fewer options for continuing his work - if indeed that was what he was meant to do here.

He too had gone back to the destroyed inn a handful of times, each time searching for something that would tell him what sort of attackers those winged women had been. Finally, his search had yielded results - a shattered piece of brick discolored with what looked like rust. It stank of violence and some other, pungent odor that made his magical senses cringe. Once the streets cleared out a bit he planned to use it to track whatever entity the stain belonged to. Legwork like that was far safer than scrying. Now, his only indecision was whether or not to invite Rivek. On one hand, he'd always worked alone. On the other, the man had been involved in the attack and might want answers - and it was good to have someone that knew the city along. So Seist sat there, waiting, torn in indecision, watching the card game in some amusement.

Rivek nodded at a familiar face at the end of the bar.

"Told you," he said, pointing at his upper arm. "Pretty far from 'brawny.'"

"Alright, I conceded the point already," Seist laughed, "I'll just think of some other terms then. How about svelte? Lithe? Delicate? Any of those sound appealing?"

He paused, coming to a reluctant conclusion. He was out of his league.

"Say, how long do you work today? You going to be up for anything much later tonight?"

Well, I know Pahkakino would love to meet her. If he gets the chance he'll be a father to anyone who lets him. ^~^

"I do like the sound of 'svelte,'" he laughed. "It's better than 'disfigured son-of-a-b***h.'"

"However, I certainly have to apologize - although I've swung that way in the past under the influence of multiple alcoholic beverages," he waved his arms, "I do indeed have a girlfriend. Asides, it would be bad practice for to bartender to go out with his clientèle."

He put a glass away, "But I do get off at two. In the morning."
