"Heartless b*****d doesn't even have a single tear to cry..."

Lurp's eyes had turned to Mack again, but now turned back to Teagan. Someone else might have rested a sympathetic hand on Teagan's shoulder, but Lurp is not good with comfort touch, so instead she said the most comforting thing she could think of. "Rivek said you were a good friend." It was a lie of course, Rivek had said no such thing directly. But it had been implied both in what he HAD said, and in what Lurp had seen Teagan do.

"Who are you." She spoke without emotion, still not moving. "Take a seat and tell me."

Rivek...I was a good friend to you? After all I did...the trouble I caused you. I'm so sorry...
Tell me this isn't true....tell me this isn't...true.

Slowly, Teagan's hand grasped the new paper, and began to crush it steadily, her hand trembling terribly now. Memories of the day she learned of Jonathan's death raced to her mind, making this current news thousands of times harder to handle. If this woman didn't start speaking, and quickly, she was unsure of what she'd do next.

Lurp could read Teagan's state, and obliged her by sitting down. "I'm Lily. I am..." and then more quietly "I was a friend of Rivek's too., I..." And Lurp has run out of things to say. "I heard the news earlier... " She doesn't have to fake the choke in her voice. And then vehemently "I hope whoever's responsible for this has the life choked out of them." And I hope I'm the one doing the choking.

Honestly, she was angry that this woman had the right to be anywhere near as angry as Teagan was, about Rivek. It was hard to explain, but she wanted to be Rivek's only friend. She'd cared so much, done so much, that it insulted her to consider that perhaps other people were willing to make sacrifices for him, that other people cared.

"Why were you looking at me with such hate that night?" Teagan asked plainly, turning to stare at the woman. "Had I done something to offend you, besides approach my friend?"

Lurp is tired, and hungry, and though it's not as bad now, she still hurts all over. She hasn't slept yet since everything that happened, and she absolutely positively doesn't want to be having this conversation. Chalk it up as one more sacrifice (however small) for Rivek. "I was ill, and needed Rivek's help." She says, unknowingly echoing what Rivek had told Teagan about that night. Lurp is only explaining, she doesn't apologize for her actions. "So no, you hadn't really done anything." Except approach my friend when my secrets were at stake and I was desperate and needed him.

"Mmm." she said in return, she couldn't be bothered saying something like 'okay,' or, 'oh, I see.'

Teagan finally moved a little in her seat, and reached for her sandwich. She took a humble bite, and chewed slowly. It tasted awful now. After she put down the sandwich again, she turned to the woman, with a slight look of sympathy in her eyes.

Be nicer. She's in the same spot you're in.

"You don't look so much better now. Do you need a drink? I can't drink anymore but...I'll buy one for you if you want."

Was this one of those situations where she was supposed to refuse or accept? Would it offend Teagan if Lurp didn't take her offer? Didn't she need to offer something in exchange if she did take it. Lurp couldn't swim social waters. Couldn't even dog paddle.

"Yes, I've been sick. It's a little better now, but I still have a ways to go." She doesn't want to hear any of this. "Er... thank you." She decides on the drink. "That is kind of you. I'll see if I can catch that b*****d's attention. I need something to eat." She stands again at the bar, leaning, and gesturing to Mack, who's made the mistake of a skittish glance in her direction.

She sits back down next to Teagan, and as she searches for something to say, a thought occurs to her. "We should do something... a memorial or... or something." she finishes lamely. It wasn't right for the world to just be moving on when Rivek was dead.

He's not dead!

But they don't know that.

Teagan caught the bartender's eye and ordered a rather heavy drink for the woman, who looked like she could use it.

"Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this guy is a b*****d." she whispered, glad that they'd found something else in common. At the mention of a memorial, Teagan looked away and thought for a bit.

"I...well I agree but...I have no idea what I'd do or say..." she admitted. "I knew him but...I don't know who else would come, save you anyway. And...what would we do exactly? I wonder if funerals are even a tradition in a sick, twisted place like Cerxes." She glanced around at the other people in the bar, shuddering.

"I just don't know. I'm still having trouble accepting it. It's still pure shock I think." She lied. Though she hadn't completely accepted it, she was certainly beyond the stage of shock.

Maybe this is all a test. A second chance, to see how I handle it this time. I'll prove Jonathan meant something to me. I'll prove I won't give up.

Teagan took a more hearty bite from her food this time, wondering what hour it was. She may need to leave soon to meet Ja'tel. In fact, she wanted desperately to leave now, just so she could see him, and continue her mission, to be distracted from this depressing moment. But to her disappointment, very little time had passed after all. Surely Ja'tel was still gathering supplies, and it would not be dark for a while.

"I'm Teagan." she spoke to break awkward silence. "A shame we couldn't meet in more pleasant circumstances." She managed a courteous smile for a moment, but didn't extend her hand.
