We thought we'd take a moment every week to give you some helpful tips to keep your account safe and your Gaia experience fun. One good way to do that is to keep an eye out for phishing schemes. There are a lot of shady Internet ne'er-do-wells eager to steal your passwords and use them to funnel sweet Nigerian gold into the country, so vigilance is important. Treat your password like a baby bird egg and keep it safe and secure. To help keep your account free from harm, please consider these basic facts/tips:

  • Gaia admins will never ask you for your password. We've got millions of passwords, more than we'll ever need. We don't need yours, even if it is really great.
  • The only place Gaia will ever ask for your password is on the http://www.gaiaonline.com/ website.
  • Do not share your password with friends, or your account for that matter. One time some kids got attacked by bears after sharing their passwords. Don't let that happen to you!
  • Change your passwords regularly. Like underwear, passwords should be changed at least once every couple months or when accidents happen.
  • Use a unique, hard-to-guess password. You know, one of those big long strings of gibberish that takes an hour to type out and makes you hate passwords.

If you spot anybody trying to pull some phishing funny business, please report it!
