Strobe initially made her first appearance as a member of the Mutant Liberation Front (MLF) attacking a government compound trying to save two mutants by the name of Rusty and Skids. During this attack, Strobe would do battle against the powerful Cable and best him by easily melting his cybernetic components. Many battles would follow and in each Strobe would display her vicious personality and fiery temperament. She was willing to do anything to ensure a victory for her team and was given lead a couple times as well. During one of the battle she engaged in, she used her powers directly upon Rogue's eye blinding her for a very long time. Strobe showed great potential to become a villainess of the highest order.
This particular incarnation of the group of Mutant Liberation Front were quite simply pawns of their leader and organizer, Stryfe. Her true reasons for joining the group were never revealed. Stryfe has used numerous different tactics when recruiting member including even mind control. In their last battle a majority of the team is caught and taken to jail. When the next incarnation of the MLF was being organized some of the members would be broken out of jail.

However, in the wake of M-Day—an event in which a mentally ill Scarlet Witch depowered over 90% of the mutant population—Strobe was shown to be one of the large but few who retained their powers.

During the legislation which was trying to pass the Mutant Registration Act many attempted to stop it. At that time a team of mutants would be brought together that would gladly fight against the system trying to enforce the act called the Mutant Liberation Front.

Powers
Strobe has the mutant ability to project a field of thermal energy, most generally acting as an aura, around her body. This aura is generated at such an intense level of heat that once around her it provides superior protection against most any physical attacks and could absorb many energy one too. If anything or one got close enough to her, the aura would melt it almost immediately one it touches it. Strobe's heat aura. When stretched out she can create energy shields capable of protecting her from most harm. Strobe can also focus that same thermal energy to project heat and light blasts capable of blinding, scorching, or melting opponents and objects usually with devastating effects. By providing thrust behind herself with her thermal energies, Strobe is able to fly. Some of her abilities include:
Heat Projection - Strobe was capable of generating heat, not needing the use of an outside source.
Fire Manipulation/ Pyrokinesis - Strobe has displayed the ability to control the fire she projects possibly meaning that she is a pyrokinetic
Energy-Based Force Fields - Strobe is able to focus her heat energies into a tight field around her body which provides superior defensive capabilities and can be used offensively too.
Concussive Energy Blasts - She has to ability to also release her heat in powerful blasts of concussive energy.
Flight - By focusing her energy below her she is able to provide thrust enabling flight.
Special Equipment - Metallic suit to enable better heat conduction to enhance her heat field.
Special Abilities - Strobe is a highly trained athlete and skilled hand to hand fighter.
