Korra is a fictional character and the titular protagonist in Nickelodeon's animated television series The Legend of Korra.
Many years after the war in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Korra was born in the Southern Water Tribe a small time after the former Avatar, Aang, died. She is the daughter of two Waterbenders Tonraq, her father, and Senna, her mother. She discovered at the age of four that she was the Avatar, an occurrence she proudly announced to the Order of the White Lotus when they came on her family's request. By the time she was 17, Korra already mastered Waterbending, Earthbending, and Firebending. However, Korra must master Airbending before she can become a fully realized Avatar. To do this she must journey to the crime-ridden Republic City where she must learn Airbending from Aang's son, Tenzin, and stop the villainous Anti-Benders.
~~~Personality and Characteristics~~~
Unlike her predecessor Aang, Korra is a headstrong, stubborn, willful, and fiery person. She is not afraid to do what she must and often gets into fights, perhaps too quickly. However, despite these qualities, Korra has a good sense of humor herself and can take a joke.
It is explained in both series that the Avatar has difficulty mastering the element most opposite to the Avatar's personality (ex: Roku took longer to learn Waterbending; for Aang it was Earthbending.) Korra's forceful, sharp-tongued personality is very much opposite to the teachings of Airbending-- calm mindedness, free-spirited-ness and evasiveness.
It has been implied that Korra has a big crush on Mako, older brother of Bolin and the Firebender captain of the popular pro-bending team the Fire Ferrets, it is hinted he may return these feelings. In a recent Nicktoons trailer, a quick shot was shown of her kissing him, but the context of the scene is unknown.
Korra appears to be a very powerful bender, able to use Firebending, Earthbending, and Waterbending. Korra is a novice at Airbending, being the opposite of her strong and determined nature, and has barely begun to learn under the guidance of the Airbending master Tenzin, the son of the last Avatar (Aang) and his wife, Katara. In the series, Korra is also a skilled in acrobatics and hand-to-hand combat.
