See, that's the thing that pisses me off though -this seperating meaning from word which is what they're trying to do. Selfish is synonomous with a lot of basically same-meaning words that are all negative for a reason, and it's the antonym of altruism because of the very nature of what drives it. Worse yet is the whole intent = excuse thing, oh buuut only when applied to anyone else except suicidal people. It's more complicated than that and I think they're deliberately ignoring that. People associate that word with negativity because it really is a pejorative, which is exactly why what you said is so important, that to call a suicidal person selfish is wrong. I think a part of this is because of these attempts at seperation so noone can or should seperate those things from eachother for any reason.
It's also damaging on a scale I can't even put into words.

If someone's being selfish they're usually in a position to do it specifically at the disadvantage of others to the benefit of themselves, which -like you said- dosen't apply to suicidal people because they

One: Are acting out of wanting to do something good for others(which is the exact opposite of what motivates selfish people)

and

2. Feel that they have no advantage whatsoever or any foothold left in life -the opposite actually, they think they're ruining any possible benefits by continuing to exist. And not only do they gain no advantage from dying, they actually permanantly disadvantage themselves. They're gone from that life forever.

I understand where they're coming from and they're valid to list the ways loved ones can be affected -and those results are all valid- it's thier victim-blaming, derailing and switch-a-roo games and willful ignorance that's triggering me and making me so frustrated.

Side note: my capcha before I refreshed for the last time was Barking Mad.
Yeah, that's EXACTLY how I feel right now.
