THE DEATH GOD
Who deemed it that Death had to be a scary thing? Who said that Death resembled a gnarled, twisted and bent looking demon? Obviously, Shinigami-sama from the Anime Soul Eater didn't get that memo. Despite being basically the ruler of death, this Death God/Grim Reaper seems a tad... "wacky", "goofy" or even "unhinged" to the point of one wondering if he really knows what's going on. He's adapted that happier, more carefree side of him in order for the kids not to be afraid of him. Despite that, he does have a serious side, and that side one should never meet. He's damaging temper can go wild, and often get out of hand. To those who know of his "Shinigami Chop", they felt first hand what his wrath can wield.
He is the father of Death the Kid, and is the absolute founder of the school Shibusen (the one erected to train students into become Meisters who wield demonic weapons. These weapons have human forms. These students then train in case the Demon God- Asura the Kishin- ever comes back).

HIS OWN PERSONAL PRISON
Just because he's a Death God doesn't mean he falls under the catagory of "Godmodding Anime character". He's one of the most flawed characters thanks to one important thing-- HE CAN NEVER LEAVE SHIBUSEN. If he does, then all hell breaks loose. The seal that keeps the Kishin at bay will wear off, and basically his reveal would be assured.
Because of this, Shinigami-sama is holed up in his own room in the school. One must go through the hallway that is graced with rows of guillotines hanging, perfectly poised and erected, just above the unwary. The room itself, reminds some of a brightly painted nursery. There are actual moving clouds on the "walls", with high cut windows seemingly coming out of nowhere. All around the platform that the God stands on are crooked crosses- millions as far as the eye can see. In the middle of his little standing place, that platform, is a mirror that's been put there for Shinigami's quick access. He contacts others (or others contact HIM) through means of the mirror. If you breathe on the glass, and draw in 42-42-564 (which means, in Japanese terms, "death-death-murder") the glass will ripple and the Death God will be looking back at you, communicating like it's some real time phone-television mix.
