Diane

Diane woke with a start. A fire burns silently in a cave, giving an ominous glow to the walls. At the cave's mouth, night has fallen and crickets are chirping. Diane slowly lifts herself, her muscles aching like she hadn't moved in days. She starts to stretch when a igure approaches the mouth of the cave. He steps into the warm glow of the fire and Diane could his features. The man, actually not even a man, a teen, had deathly pale skin and gray hair swept to a side. His face was the kind that you see on male models or movie stars. He wore no shirt, just a loose jacket and jeans. Diane stepped back, afraid of the intruder.
"Don't be afraid," said the pale teen, his voice tinted with a slight Russian accent. He stepped foward and Diane saw for a split second as the boy's jacket parted, a sword tied to his waist. The boy met her gaze and took the sword from his waist.
"Don't worry, here I'll put my blade down."
The boy put his sword on the hard cave floor and Diane started to run. She leaped over him and landed outside the cave in a heap. Before she could get up, the boy was already in front of her.
*sigh* "Diane, Diane," the boy scolded. "You could hurt yourself doing that."
"So you're not going to ki..kill me?" squeked Diane.
"Me? No, ridiculous. My job is quite the oppisite really. I'm here to protect you from...."
"From who?" Diane asked, a little less afraid.
"Well...let just say....from the things that go bump in the night."
Diane let out a small squek, and instantly, her face turned red. The teen smiled and said, "Here lets get you cleaned off."
He lifted her with one hand, as if she was weightless, and dusted her off. "My name is Blake, but my title is Fledgling warrior 2313, bu lets just stickwith Blake. Dane just nodded vigoroulsy. Blake led her back to the cave made her lay down.
"Now just lay down, my dear and tommorow I'll make you a nice beakfast. How 'bout that?"
Diane nodded and soon she fell into the warm embrace of sleep.
