VAMPS CONCERT!
I got to go to the Vamps concert in Seattle on their 2009 US tour!!! Oh my gosh, it was awesome! I had such a good time! 2 days later, my calves are still killing me from the concert. I got an awesome black bag that says VAMPS on it in white, and in little black letters is says Live 2009, on the 'S', I believe (it's all the way upstairs, and I don't want to have to go check). I went with Heidi and Holly (Heidi's sister took us). It was so fun. While were were there, we went out to dinner (I didn't like mine very much. I had a Japanese omelet, which was okay, and there there was ketchup rice with chicken, which I didn't like very much). I tried squid (the suckers and texture of the skin were a bit off putting. I thought it was too chewy with a weird taste) and hamburger steak (which was basically like a hamburger with a weird sauce on it).

We also went to the Uwajimaya, and went to the Japanese bookstore. I got a cellphone charm, a visual kei magazine (I think it was Fool's Gold) with the GazettE on it, and a GAzettE poster. I have this philosophy: you can never have too many GazettE posters (I now have 4). I also got these little sticker things. I think they're supposed to go on the edge of folders to mark your spot, or something.

Before the Concert

We were planning on getting in line an hour before the doors opened. We got there ten minutes before, and the line was huge. We met these nice guys in line, and we talked to them for a long time. They stood behind us, and the big guy offered to let me sit on his shoulders (because I'm short T.T). I didn't take him up on his offer, because I thought it was a little weird, and I thought we would get in trouble. At one point though, I climbed on Holly's shoulders to see if Hyde was wearing jeans, and then a second time to see the drummer's hot body (Holly noticed his body when he stood up at the end of the concert, but I missed him standing, so I jumped on her shoulders to catch a glimpse of him).

During the Concert

We were in the back, but I could still see okay. I jumped up and down the whole time. I was awesome! HYDE is such a good performer (so is Kaz, and the bassist, and the drummer, but really, I'm a HYDE girl!). HYDE performs with his eyes, and the whole time (he usually was playing the guitar) he was kinda dancing. I think Holly called is shoulder pumping, or something. It was kinda like jerking his shoulder to the side, or dancing with his shoulders. I dunno, whatever. I rocked out, and several times he got REALLY close to the edge of the stage. He also did the sexy lip licking thing, which was awesome!!! At one point he was close to the edge, and leaned down and did that tongue thing. I think the people tried to grab him, because he he waved his hand at the audience, like shooing them away, and then he kinda smiled.

When they performed Trouble, at the point when they're talking about how it started to (the word would be rain, but he goes "Ooh!" like in exasperation instead). When he did the little moan thing, he rolled his eyes, and then smiled and continued on singing and kinda dancing. He performs with his eyes, and makes you feel like he's performing to you!

He also talked to us. He talked about how he was just on the east coast, and how it took him 6 -something to get here. I thought he said months (which he might have, because I think a lot of other people thought he said that too.) But then he kinda shook his hands, and in his adorable accent said "6 hours! 6 hours!' and then he was talking about how he was tired, but happy to be here. He talked about how he was walking around, and there were so many trees! And then he talked about how he had never seen the pacific ocean, or something about the ocean. But he said ocean 'okean', with the 'c' making a 'k' sound. It was so cute. And then he was like 'is that right? is that right?" as he moved his hand up and down like a wave, and we're all like 'yeah! that's fine!" I yelled llike twice 'it's ocean!" And then he was like 'are you ready?!" and you know, we all screamed. And then I think he held up his hand, and said 'Oh! mistake. are you f****** ready?!" It was either this time or later he started talking Japanese to us, and we all just screamed and laughed. I had no idea what he was saying, but there was a lot of Japanese people in the audience, so they probably knew what he was talking about. Later, he asked us again 'are you ready?!" and then he me a little noise like "oh!", like he made a mistake, and put his hand over his mouth, and then he yelled 'Are you f****** ready?!" It was awesome!

It took them a long time to come out for the encore. Holly, who went with me to the girugamesh concert, was like, "I don't think they're going to do an encore." it had been awhile, so I agreed with her. But at the girugamesh concert, we started to leave when the audience was calling for an encore, and we were at the back of the room, about to come out when the band came back on, so I still had a tiny little bit of hope. and then they came on, and I shouted "told you!" For the encore they played 2-3 songs (I think it was 3). One of them was Love Addict.

Interestingly, they didn't only perform VAMPS songs. They performed some HYDE songs as well. I'm 98% positive they did Countdown (I don't recall hearing the actual countdown, but I thought I recognized the rest of it). I thought they were going to do Evergreen, you know, on account of all the trees, but I don't think they did. But Dolly was especially amazing to watch him perform. His eyes were SO amazing during that song. He performs with them, and with his whole body. I sang along to Trouble and Dolly (well, the parts I knew ^_^" wink . Everyone freaked out when they did Trouble, and I KNOW I wasn't the only person singing along. Everyone got totally energetic when they started playing that one.

They also had an instrumental one, where out of nowhere, the bass player had a cello! Holly was like 'dude! he's got a cello!" and I, at the moment, couldn't see anybody, so I was like 'Who? hyde?" and she's all "No! the bass player!" it was a really nice, calm break from all the energetic songs they'd been doing. The bass player didn't have a bow either. he was just plucking it. it was cool.

So, in summation, it was an AWESOME concert, and I'd love to see them perform again! (I'd also love to see lots of other bands, including hyde in various incarnations [HYDE during his solo career, L'arc~en~Ciel] but that's besides the point). I had an awesome time, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Next time: girugamesh concert review (which I should've done right after I saw them, not months later) and the fiasco involved in my parents not wanting me to go, because it was a Sunday. (In all reality, the fiasco one will probably come first, and then the girugamesh one. And then probably one about my new GazettE cd [DIM] which will hopefully be here when I get back from Trek!] [I will also try to write about Trek. Man, why haven't I been using this journal before? I have like 2 entries!]). Okay, so look forward to all of that! Later!
