Some deliveries were delayed by manufacturing difficulties connected to the transition to new Autopilot hardware that started in October and lasted through early December, Tesla explained. An additional two,750 autos missed becoming counted as deliveries due to final-minute transportation delays or the inability of customers to physically take delivery.
"We tried to recover these deliveries and expedite other people by the end of the quarter, time ran out just before we could deliver all buyer automobiles," the electric-vehicle maker mentioned.
Musk stated in October that all versions constructed from that point on would contain the hardware capable of complete-on autonomous driving, but none of the methods had been to be enabled till a then-unannounced date. The Tesla CEO tweeted on December 22 that he imagined the rollout of most of the Autopilot performance may come about by the finish of 2016.
The rollout is anticipated to be incremental, 1st enabling security systems like adaptive cruise handle and autonomous emergency braking. This brings Tesla's new Model X and Model S autos in line with the older Teslas currently on the street.
