Prologue: The Letter
Clara sat in her room aboard the TARDIS and dipped her pen in ink. In her mind, she knew writing a letter to the Doctor’s former companion was silly, but something else urged her to go for it. She sighed, shifting a bit in her chair, and paused, wondering what to say.
Dear Mr. Williams, she wrote, tugging a bit on her dark curls. Now what? Then she had it.
My name is Clara Oswald. I’m in my late twenties and I am the Doctor’s new companion. I know it’s more than a bit of a long shot to write this letter, but the Doctor has told me a little about you and I wanted to know more. Is there any way you can meet me somewhere so we can become better acquainted? Please let me know as soon as you can.

Smiling slightly, Clara sealed the envelope and placed a few stamps in the corner, resolving to ask the Doctor for Mr. Williams’ address as soon as possible.
