No, I am not a Wiccan. I am more ecletic than any of the Wiccans I have ever met. razz Many -not all - of them have an authenticity problem and spend too much time assuring other people that they are: 1. 'Real' witches 2. Harmless
I am an agnostic, I neither believe nor dis-believe in any divinity or divinities. I believe that magic works thru the mind and heart of the person who understands it for what it is. As long as I remain mindful of (and clearly understand) it's limitations, I find it quite useful. Not to mention fun.
twisted 'Books of spells' are intresting if they are viewed as someone else's solutions to their problems. Far more valuable are the spells you devise for yourself to remind, remold and reeducate your mind and emotions into better tune with the lifeforce and physical reality that surrounds you. twisted
Did you ever see the movie 'Little BigMan' , where the old chief decides it is time to die, and he wraps himself in his bearskin and lies on the ground and prepares to expire? He waits, it snows. He waits some more, it snows some more. He waits some more, it keeps on snowing.
Finally he sits up, brushes the snow off his face, gets up and shakes the snow out of his bear skin and walks back to the encampment. His only words (to our hero): "Sometimes the magic works, and sometimes it doesn't"
People committed to this path write their own "Book of Shadows" beginning the first day they believe they have discovered some formula or charm or technique that will help them move their lives forward in the path they perceive to be the one they wish to follow. It could as well be called a 'Book of Prayer' or a 'Book of Aspirations' or a 'Book of Hope' because it all amounts to about the same thing anyway. And just because you write it in the book does not make it gospel, because it is a Journal as well, and opinions and approaches change as you grow and learn. Start with a blank book. twisted
