I extended my arm out,
To reach for the hovering mountains
Of cornbread and blueberry muffins.
Next thing I hear,
Beep! Beep! Beep!
I glared angrily at the source of the noise.
How dare it wake me from my slumber!
I think they are just jealous,
Watching us sleep with happy smiles,
Knowing they don’t have such luxuries.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Will it ever be quiet?
“Hush up!” I say.
It can’t hear me though,
It is just an annoying clock.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Did it just get louder?
I threw my pillow at it to make the noise stop
Just to have it knock over my drink instead.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
I wrote this because my teacher for Gifted ( stressed I HATE HER!) pressured me into writing a poem for a contest over the country. It was just posted around the school in case you wanted to do it, you didn't have to. It wasn't for a school grade and you would get no extra credit if you wanted to. She asked me if I was going to do it, I said maybe if I had time, then she started pulling me out of my classes to show me all these poem styles and make me write poems and send them to her so she could check it, and she made me do a lot of other stuff. I made sure she didn't read this one because it was my favorite and I submitted it. I don't think I won, because all I heard from them was if I can have it in their collection of entries book, which I'm sure they sent to everyone. rolleyes
