Merri reached her hand for Erik and gently placed her soft fingers on his face ," I love you." she said softly. Erik glanced at her. As he looked deep into her eyes his lips parted and the words "I wuv you to." escaped his mouth. Merri's heart dropped to her stomach and she sighed.

"What is it?" Erik asked as he wrapped his arms round her waist.

Merri hesistated for a few moments and would pull gently on Eriks shirt. It was a hard subject for her to discuss ,but she knew something had to be said ," Are you ever going to say you love me?" Erik made his usual face. You know that face that just screams "Maybe , Maybe"

Well Merri was getting sick of that face. Everytime she would be intimate with him and tell him how she felt he would ruin it by saying "I like you to." Finally Erik replied ," Well I don't know how I feel about you really. You're the only girl I've been with so I don't know how that emotion feels."

Frustration filled Merri's mind and she snapped at Erik ," How can you not know?! I mean I'm with you and you're the only guy I've ever dated , but I know that I love you. How can you just not know?"

"Look I just don't know ok? Drop it , why do you have to ruin a good time with that question again?" Eriks loosened his grip from Merri's waist. She could tell this was going to be another one of those dates with him. It had been three wonderful years since Erik had asked Merri out and everything between them couldn't be more perfect. Yet when it came to love Erik would always clam up or change the subject.

Later that night Erik kissed Merri goodnight and drove home. Sure the date wasn't as good as others ,but they just watched a movie so it wasn't exactly going to be the date of their lives. Merri sat in her room and read Stephens Kings "The Gunslinger" as she rested on her soft goose feather filled blanket. Erik had checked out the book from the library just for her and it had been several months since it was well over due.

"Blah blah blah...eh twenty more pages to go.....but since when are these pages a mile long!" Merri groaned as she proceeded to bang her head against the wall. Reading wasn't her strongest skill ,but she felt she owed it to Erik to the least finish the book. Even though she had forgotten most of the story.

As the next page in the story slowly approached, Merri dropped the book and fell asleep.

The next morning Merri awoke and saw she was only read a third of the page she started on last night. "Will this book ever end!!" she cried.
