Twist of Fate, Part 1
Twist of Fate, Part 1
Twenty-six months after the civil war that ravaged the entire country, the results of said war we're still coming. Many cities were still rundown and bands of theives ran rampant across the entire country. One of these bands of thieves who called themselves the Tao-Cron-Tsu Clan was the most feared clan in the country. Though only composed of thirty-three members, this clan struck terror into any city they visited. On one such visit, the leader of the Tao-Cron-Tsu who called himself the Prince of the country, fell into a trap set by the local milita. Seeing no chance of fighting his way out of the trap, He surrendered, expecting that his fellow Clan members would attack the prison and free him.

When the Militia came upon the prison, a mysterious flash of light shone all around the group. When the light had faded, the Prince was nowhere to be found. Many days passed, and no sign of the Prince could be found by the militia or the Tao-Cron-Tsu Clan. Supposing him to be dead, the Clan left town. When three weeks had passed since the escape of the Prince, a strange figure rides into town. He produces papers from the emporer that he is to be the new scribe of the Mayor of the poor village. Seeing as the old scribe had perished many months before, this stranger was welcomed into the service of the mayor. While this stranger was being brought into the court of the mayor, a young girl, no more than twenty-three approached the new secretary and proceeded to pick-pocket him. She was not noticed by anyone, except the scribe. Immediately, the man called to the guards, "Stop, Thief! How dare you try to steal my belongings!"
The gaurds came upon her and held her back. They we're taking her out of the room when the cloak of her hood flew backwards. At that instant, the eyes of the girl and the young man met for the first time. The young man saw fear in the eyes of the girl.

After that night, the scribe, who goes by the name of Nathan, did not expect to see that girl again. But some days later, Nathan overheard the mayor discussing the fate of the girl. "I simply cannot stand that type of behaviour by a young lady, no matter how she was raised. I must make an example of her! I shall have her put to death tomorrow evening."

Nathan spent a very restless night tossing and turning on his bed mat. He couldn't take his mind off of the girl. He decided that he would go and apologize to the girl, knowing that if he had not said anything, the girl would not have been caught. After having made this decision, he fell into a deep sleep.
