while we are on the subject of the USA, can you tell me what it means to be "white" in america? what is our identity? our culture if you will, and how does it affect those we dont term as "white" in out day to day lives? it is certainly true that all people should be treated as equals, but we aren't. we live in what is considered the most liberated country in the world, yet our people are not free, why is that? if all men are created equal, then why do we have this silent caste system, we all know its here, but we dont talk about it. it isnt just a white/black thing either, its everyone, everywhere. the rich, the poor, males, christians, jews, muslims, pagans, females, blacks, democrats, republicans, liberals, hispanics, asians and whites, it doesnt matter, we all do it everyday, in every way. so "we should ignore racism and pretend it isnt there, and it will go away" isnt an acceptable answer now that the question has been posed, then what is? how can we solve this humongous problem when we dont even know what we are doing to others with our whiteness? what does it mean to be white to you?
