the sky is dark and the ground is wet
the air is cold and filled with dread
appropriate for the feelings i have
but if it stays tomorrow, i might not be sad

the howling winds seem to egg me on
past the distant light, further towards the dark
i think i'll lose myself if i head that way
i don't care cause here ain't great

and if i can't carry myself i know i'm safe
cause they'll be four below to lift me away
and leave me planted in my grounded space
6ft down and you might find the place

you can come and visit to read my name
and under it you'll read 'my mistake
i've lived so long but it was still too long
and every decision i've made was wrong'

you can leave some roses or spit on the stone
just don't bother coming if you're not coming alone
i know you're there and i can read his thoughts
and if i wasn't dead i'd leave you both in my plot

but my time is wasted like i wasted my life
who knows what the next one will bring this time
just promise me you won't feel grief
cause every winter's end brings out a different leaf

so i say goodbye like i've said all along
you won't miss me by the time i'm gone
