HE went from rags to riches, starting off as a janitor's son
and ending up as a property tycoon who owns 12 companies, a fleet of
flash cars and a football club.
Self-made multi-millionaire Mike Mulraney, 38, does not need to put
in a day's graft ever again.
But the workaholic toils a 40-hour week - as boss of his local
council leisure centre.
He gets pounds 35,000 a year to run Clackmannanshire Council's
Leisure Bowl - which wouldn't buy even one of his flash motors.
Yesterday Mulraney spoke about why he refuses to quit his council
job despite having a personal fortune near pounds 10million and holding
an 80 per cent stake in his beloved Alloa Athletic.
In his first-ever interview, Mulraney said: "Do I have
business interests? Absolutely. Do I work more than my 40 hours a week
in the Leisure Bowl? You'd better believe it.
"It's not very well paid. It doesn't pay for my
cars. But I really like running swimming pools and getting involved with
people.
"What I don't like to do is work on a building site so my
brother or one of my men will look after that.
"My property businesses and other companies do very well but I
love working in leisure.
"The fact I work more than the average person is my choice.
