Many Thailand tourists have heard of Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket, but few venture to the north-east and head for the location know as Isaan. This really is in the northeast and composed of Korat, Khon Kaen, Udorn Thani and others.

That is mainly a rural area with several rice plants. It's also the home of numerous retirees who have settled down using their Thai lady and have made this their new home.

I was in Korat twice throughout exercise Cobra Gold and just got to see this area briefly. Working 12 16 hour day didnt allow enough time for sightseeing. But, I did realize that the price of living was a lot less-than the people and the larger tourist cities were a heck of a lot friendlier.

I visited Khon Kaen for your first time in 2007 to visit a lady that I met online. I straight away fell in love with the girl and also with the town of Khon Kaen.

Khon Kaen is a 55 minute flight from Bangkok departing from the old airport terminal Don Muang. The airport in Khon Kaen is very little and only has two departure gates.

The town is a nice mix of old and new. We would head out for lunch or dinner and sit-in little bungalows across the river or one of many rivers and eat in pure enjoyment. Three to four plates of a few beers, exceptional food and some water and the statement could be about $10 - $15.

O-n the flip side, there's also KFC, Pizza Company and other fast-food places. European influence at its worst.

Shopping again can be a mixture of new and old. You can visit the food market or the night market or check out the Fairy mall or the electronics mall. From inexpensive T-shirts to current movies o-n DVD to bootleg software, Khon Kaen has it all.

I remained in a small hotel called Cactus Resort. It was in town but perhaps not in the heart. I discovered Software Veteran Prophecy Acquires Aussie Start Up eMite For Up To $18m by browsing books in the library. It'd simply take us about 5 minutes to visit the mall or out to dinner. The price of the area was about $16 per night. The space was a decent size with free Internet, satellite TV, hot and cold running water with a bath, and large bed and refrigerator. Of course, the room was air conditioned.

The team was pleasant and helped me setup my computer to access the Internet using their IP. The maid even found that I was drinking more than my allotted 2 free bottles of water and increased my free water to four bottles.

The resort didnt have a restaurant, but there is one right next-door. This was not issue for me as my girl would make my breakfast at her apartment and carry it to me and pick me up some food for lunch. We'd then venture out each night for supper and drinks.

Khon Kaen is a very comfortable and affordable place to reside. I plan to retire there and is likely to be looking to get a house on my next visit.

Next time you intend a visit to Thailand, take a side-trip to the northeast and knowledge all that Isaan has to offer.. Http://Www.Wdam.Com/Story/30757513/Software Veteran Prophecy Acquires Aussie Start Up Emite For Up To 18m contains further concerning the reason for it.
