http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jemheOQ_A6g

Spring is almost here, which means St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner. As you get ready to turn the clocks ahead and find your favorite green shirt, consider a few fun ways to spend St. Patrick's Day in NYC.

A personal favorite for decades, Rosie O'Grady's is a friendly Irish pub with fantastic food. Rosie O'Grady's has been family-owned and operated since 1973. Choose from familiar favorites such as shepherd's pie, Irish beef stew and fish and chips. There is also a delectable seafood Shepherd's pie to consider and there are also gluten-free menu items. Cocktails, wine and beer are sure to be flowing, too. Rosie O'Grady's is located at 800 7th Avenue, at the corner of 52nd St.

For a taste of Irish authenticity, consider Molly's Pub and Shebeen, located at 287 Third Avenue, near 22nd Street. From the crackling fireplace to sawdust on the floor and Irish music, visitors are sure to feel like they are just a wee bit closer to being in Ireland on St. Patrick's Day.

The St. Patrick's Day Parade in NYC is a sure way to celebrate Eire on St. Patrick's Day. Cardinal Timothy Dolan will be the Grand Marshall of the 2015 St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City. Proud celebrants have been marching in this renowned parade for more than 250 years, Watching this march up 5th Avenue is sure to create a festive feeling on Tues., March 17. The Parade starts at 44th Street, passes St. Patrick's Cathedral and ends at the American Irish Historical Society.

For people who are already eager to head to the East End of Long Island, there are plenty of parades and festive Irish pubs. We enjoy stopping at Buckley's Irish Pub in Center Moriches for the award-winning New England clam chowder and traditional Irish baked clams. Another great option is Buckley's Inn Between in Hampton Bays. For those who dare to head out as far as Montauk, O'Murphy's Pub has irresistible shepherd's pie and mussels. Plus, it is a wonderfully family-friendly place to take the "wee ones."

If you plan to watch the St. Patrick's Day Parade at home with friends and family, make your own green beer and quick shepherd's pie. Both are affordable, easy to prepare and add to the good times. For those who want instant gratification, try the new Truvee chardonnay with John Wm. Macy's CheeseSticks as a fast and fabulous nosh that requires no prep time. Adventurous party people might even add a dash of Bailey's Irish Cream to their cup of morning coffee. Also, the famed Shamrock Shake is being served at McDonald's for a limited time only.
