Transmissions are not my area of expertise, but a couple of things I do know to check. The first being that most older cars had a vacuum line from the transmission to the carb that cued the transmission to shift. With age, that line can become brittle and crack or just plain fall off, and automatic transmission perth - cwtrans.com.au then the transmission doesn't get its cue. Another thing that can do that is the fluid filter becoming plugged so that the transmission fluid doesn't flow properly. You could have low fluid. Or the transmission could just be shot.
