If you or someone you know is a gamer, go grab your joystick. According to an Orlando Sentinel report published on Sept. 11, a very special day is hours away. Sept. 12 is National Video Game(s) Day in the U.S.A. Not to be confused with Video Games Day, which is observed in July, today is the perfect excuse to get your game on!

Video games have sure come a long way since the days of Pac-Man, Pong, Space Invaders or Asteroids. Video games are big, big business. In fact, theyve become one of the fastest growing entertainment industries in the world, surpassing movies and music annual revenue. This year, the industry is expected to bring in more than $100 billion in revenue. According to Matt Weinberger, from the Business Insider, the top 10 highest-grossing video games of all time may surprise you (adjusted for inflation.)

Dungeon Fighter Online Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 list, this game has raked in the big bucks. $4 billion, to be exact.Donkey Kong Nintendo does it again. This classic game, which features Marios very first appearance, has earned $4.4 billion over the years. Wii Fit Who says gamers are couch potatoes? Nintendos Wii Fit allowed folks of all ages to exercise in the comfort of their own homes to the tune of $5 billion big ones.Lineage Series It's time to play a game. Coming in at number seven, the online RPG has earned $5.7 billion. Wii Sports Talk about fun. Packaged with the original Wii console, sports lovers loved this one to the tune of $6 billion.CrossFire This online shooter game comes in smack dab in the middle of the Top 10 list. SmileGate should be smiling all the way to the bank with $6.8 billion.World of Warcraft This popular multiplayer game is touted as the most lucrative online game ever. World of Warcraft comes in at number four with $8.5.Street Fighter II Coming in at number three, this popular fighting game has earned $10.6 billion. In case you didn't know - Street Fighter V is set to come out next year.Pac-Man When it comes to classic games, Pac-Man is top dog! Coming in at number two, this super fun game for consoles, mobiles, arcades and computers (and even a Google Doodle), has raked in nearly $13 billion bucks - $12.8 billion to be exact. Pac-Man turned 35 in May, by the way. Space Invaders Talk about the good ole days. It goes without saying, another world-class classic has to take the top spot. Like Pac-Man, Space Invaders became a worldwide phenomenon and has earned $13.9 billion. Wow!

And just in case you haven't heard, one of the largest gaming companies in the world released a brand new game for the Wii U. Just in time for Nintendos 30-year anniversary, the new Super Mario Maker is now available in North America. (Did you know the iconic Mario character has appeared in more than 200 games over the years?)
