Grow Fresh, Organic Produce With These Tips
Organic growing is becoming more popular due to the questionable effects of toxins and pesticides on the body and the environment. Organic gardening methods are extremely cheap for the most part. Keep reading for some useful tips on organic gardening.

If powdery mildew appears on your plants, don't purchase expensive chemical solutions. Combine a bit of liquid soap and some baking soda with water. This solution can be sprayed onto your plants once per week until the problem is resolved. Baking soda is safe for use on your plants and is a gentle, but effective way to care for your plants.

To get the best results in your garden, you need to use a good quality soil. Different types of plants require different soils, so check soil requirements for the ones you choose. It is also possible to make an artificial area using only one type of soil.

Soak your seeds in a dark spot during the overnight hours. Put some seeds (a small amount) in a container that isn't too large for the plant you'll be growing. Fill that container with water, almost to the top. This will keep seeds hydrated and help them to grow faster. This gives the seeds a better chance of flourishing.

Your vegetable garden should get at least six hours of sun daily. Many of the vegetables need a lot of sun, so they can grow right and at a faster pace. This also rings true for some of the flowers.

A good green garden should start from seeds and not plants. The most "green" way to create a new garden is starting from seeds. It is common for commercial plants to be packaged in plastic that is not commonly recycled, and therefore, it is better to use seeds or purchase plantings only from merchants who make use of organic packaging.

You may want to think about having evergreens that will produce berries planted in your yard. These evergreens will color your lawn, even when other flowers are not blooming. Some examples include Holly, Snowberry trees, Winterberry and similar plants.

Once you start to actually apply what you learned from this article you can start growing a prosperous and healthy organic garden in your own back yard for the future. A flourishing organic garden will also be an open invitation to some very interesting creatures of the wild that you can look forward to seeing.
