Original story:Home surveillance captured a bold thief in the act. The crook stole a professional weed wacker from an area landscaper's truck. It happened off Harvie Street and Floyd Avenue. The victim has a very emotional plea for answers.

"I looked and my heart sank," said Dayne Heit. "I didn't know what to do, and I noticed that there was a camera right there."

A neighbor's camera caught a thief walking off with Heit's brand new weed wacker. He's still in shock.

"The violation of it...to know he is right there...to watch it to see it happening," said Heit with tears in his eyes. "You can push a mower through dig this a lawn, but to tell you the truth, with the weed wacker it makes it professional. It's crippling to lose that intricate piece."

The surveillance images were captured Saturday night around 9 o'clock in the Fan.

"I've lived here for almost 20 years and it's a frequent occurrence," said neighbor Bruce Nolte. "I think the stealing is more frequent now."

Notle lives right across the street from Heit.

"He's such a good kid," said Nolte. "He's working so hard, and nobody should have this happen to them. It's a very, very sad thing."

The community is now turning to you for help. They are hoping someone walking by that night might recall a man with light colored pants and long sleeves walking down the street with a weed wacker.

"It strikes a chord for me given the effort that I put in to do this in this heat," said Heit. "It's not easy and he casually walks away with it."

This landscaper needs your help. If you have any information call crime stoppers at 804-780-1000.
