A Brooklyn man in Long Beach and another in Westhampton Beach drowned over the weekend, with at least one attributed to deadly rip currents, authorities said Sunday.
Kashawn Carlos, 23, who was trapped in a rip current Saturday night off Long Beach and went missing before being pulled from the water by Long Beach police, was pronounced dead at South Nassau Communities Hospital at 8:13 p.m. Saturday, police said.
"He was in the water for almost an hour," Long Beach police Sgt. Eric Irizarry said Sunday, adding Carlos was taken out of the water about 7:38 p.m.

In Westhampton Beach, another 23-year-old Brooklyn man drowned off Rogers Beach about 1:40 p.m. Saturday, village police said Sunday.
Westhampton Beach Village Police said Sunday the man, whom they did not identify, was reported struggling to leave the waters.
